I was once told that Tramadol won’t trip a drug test. Based on that advice I told my mom she’d be OK for her drug test at a pain management clinic. Now I’m concerned as her test is on the 27th. Thought I’d double check it here.

Thanks!

It's not part of a standard opioid profile test. However, pain management clinics tend to test for all opioids. Tramadol can be detected for 4-5 days, so as long as she stops using it now she should be ok.

The pain clinic I went too sends the first piss test out to a lab when you first sign up but after that they rely on the results from the container(10-12 panel ? )

IDK how it works where you are etc, but when I was tested weekly, I was on Tramadol and never tested positive for opioids. Like, it was legit, prescribed Tramadol and they knew I was on it. They actually told me it WOULD cause a positive result for opioids, but it never did.

I’ve had tests that didn’t test for tramadol before. However, the last test I took they did specifically test for tramadol as well, to see if I was taking it (since I’m prescribed it). So it depends on the place & what they are looking for.

They absolutely test for it, especially at the pain clinic...

We used to not field threads relating to drug tests, though I am not sure exactly where we stand on this subject currently, so I will leave this open. I would find it strange if a pain management clinic didn't test for all Opioids commonly available. I would think it more likely that they would test for Tramadol than not. Drug tests have become less expensive than ever, so why not?

Figured some of you may want a (belated) update. A little bizarre. The wound up telling her verbally that they do in fact test for tramadol. It’s a relatively new addition to their screens. Until fentanyl infested everything on the street, tramadols were pretty hard to sell. Even at half the price of a norco. Different now, as trams rarely counterfeited even today.

All that said, my mom tested completely clean on opiates even though she’d taken a dose that day and night before. Very weird. Stranger still? They found Ambien in her system & chewed her out about it.

Is that normal for a pain clinic to test for Ambien?

Thanks, as always. 🙏

Was that always the policy up until recently? Seems strange that threads detailing the drugs themselves, how to take them, how not to take them, how to enhance their properties, what other drugs to mix em with, etc…are all fair game.

But beating a test? Well, now we’re crossing the line my friends. In fairness, it’s entirely possible I’ve failed to take something into account. Probably good you erred on the side of more info, not less...in any event.

😎👍
