can you OD on weed?

Is it possible to OD on weed? A person told me that he had been put in a coma for smoking too many bongs one night! is he full of shit?
 
yes

i beleave you can overdose on any drug thats why its called over dose you take more then your body can handle it may take alot more with weed you can still take too much the effects may not be as large but you can still OVERDOSE!
 
As stated by "jawlocked", it depends on what you classify as an overdose. I have a naturally low tollerance to pot and a couple of cones destroys me.
I believe I have OD'd numerous times on pot. When you're unconcious in the bathroom, only waking to vomit for 5 hours it isn't an enjoyable night out. That to me is overdosing.

I read something about this a long long time ago. I can't exactly remember when!

But they said to OD on THC you would need something like 8.5kg to die. obviously it would depend on the weed and stuff. Now tell me if you could smoke 1kg without greening out....;)

if u mean od as in die.. this is probably impossible.. as stated above u need around 9 kilos and u would pass out before u could have that much.. as for smoking it.. no you cant die from smoking weed
 
A friend told me the first time he smoked cones, only 1.5 unspun, he became convinced he was going to die and ended up spewing multiple times before passing out on the footpath for a couple of hours; this i would definetely consider an OD.
 
once i have OD'ed but not in terms of dying. In my case i threw up over 10x and i couldnt even sleep. I remember having closed eye visions and open eye visions. I wish i could get this stoned again... but without the throwing up part

As other have said it depends on your definition of overdose, I take overdose to mean dosing too much for mind/body to handle and differentiate between overdose and fatal overdose. I always thought OD and fatal OD got mixed up in most peoples minds because of herion.

the LD50, the lethal dose for 50% of tested rats, was 42 milligrams per kilogram of body weight with forced inhalation. As for oral consumption, the LD50 for rats was 1270 mg/kg and 730 mg/kg for males and females, respectively. It would be impossible for THC in blood plasma to reach such a level in human cannabis smokers. Only with intravenous administration, a method rarely or never used by humans, may such a level be possible. Also, some evidence suggests that toxic levels may be higher for humans than for rats.
 
Although its very unlikely anyone would OD from weed, I dont think it would be an impossible occurance. If someone ate a ridiculous amount of very potent 'cookies' (like 40 or so) or other thc containing food, I think they could reach that ld50. Its alot easier to consume compared to smoking where you get more stoned after each bong, whereas if u eat it you can consume a huge quantity before it even affects you.
 
^if you're having a shit time - that's an OD. Every year at Mardi Grass in Nimbin, the ambos stretcher off innumerable "green-outs" - just one cookie too many! And of course there's nothing like a few cones after you're really pissed to get the ole projectile vomiting ("parking a tiger" as we like to say) going. ;)
