Can you nod off on codeine?

I wish I could nod on codeine. I can't tolerate the itching even with insane antihistamine doses.

Yes, mixing CNS depressants increase respiratory depression, be it combining opiates with opiates, opiates w/ benzos, alcohol, muscle relaxers, lots of things.
 
is it just codeine that makes you itch or does every opiate/opioid do that?
 
Most opiates cause itchiness due to histamine release which is why you should take antihistamines prior to dosing, but with codeine for me it is like literally unbearable to the point where I can't enjoy the high, plus my tolerance is usually way too high for codeine anyways. Most other opiates have a good itch.
 
what type of itch are we talking about here? like when your body numbs and it itches or really itching?
 
Talking about opiate itch haha. Codeine is unbearable to me. Other opiates it feels really good to scratch my chest, arms, nose/face, balls, neck, etc.

Nothing beats a backscratch when snuggling up with someone on opiates.

also, always makes me wanna eat cookies!


Agree that codeine is infamous for histamine reaction..(itchiness)
which is why an antihistamine (before) is super important...
because blood shed always hurts..
and kinda defeats the purpose...

dhc or codeine dont make me itch tho. particular batches of h do really bad tho, benadryl and another antihistamine i tried didn't seem to have an affect. it's not too annoying until i scratch raw and get a red nose or a scabby lower back.
 
why do people take opiates if they make you itch so much you start bleeding? it doesn't sound too nice
i bet the high is good, but still, is it worth it?
that last bit sounded kinda wrong, but y'know what i mean, like, if you're just gonna sit there and scratch yourself, doesn't that kinda ruin the high?

EDIT: Does anyone here know WHY opiates make you itch?
 
not everyone itches that bad, for me it's not unpleasant as it feels good to scratch it, you're high so don't feel pain so go overboard.

and it's something to do with histamine release.
 
ah right, i see
guess you just gotta try out all the antihistamines that are OTC or if you can get some prescribed for some made up or legit reason and see what works best for you then huh
 
be sure to add some promethazine after yo initial codeine dose, they go at least for me together like tortillas and dip :)
also good to know a real small dose of DXM (10mg enough) will let yo reduce your codeine dose by at least 25%!

I don't have an opiate tolerance, and, having snorted street heroin a few times these last months, it's been 2 weeks since i've decided not to use it anymore (or on very rare occasions only) and now codeine still gets me high a shit load (nearly nodding off and VERY slow breathing lungs : scary antitussive) !! Luckly enough, i barely feel any itching from opiates/opiods.

I take between 300/400 mgs of codeine per sesh and, for best results, i use these potentiators : THC, caffeine, DXM (non recreationnal threshold dosage), DPH and finally even benzos in small dosages (although i am not sure if they actually work as potentiators : i only tried alprazolam with codeine and it cancelled the high!! maybe miladozam could do better).

At this present moment i'm on half the amount of codeine i normally use, with caffeine as my only potentiator and, besides my very low breathing, i'm nearly throwing up !!!! (as i normally do while on heroin)

Really itching. I itch so much on low doses of codeine that I can end up bloody from scratching if I don't use an antihistamine. If I use too much I risk anaphylaxis. Even at 80mg I have had my arms and hands swell up like balloons. I am allergic, so my response is much worse than normal, however I have no such reaction to morphine, or even the codones (although hydrocodone is also pretty bad for itching, I have never swollen up even at 120+ mg doses).

Everyone is different.
 
Being itchy is my "tell" to ppl who "know" me...

And again w/ the promethazine!

Some of us are in the US, you know where this isn't otc...and
where our forefathers must've written something about
us having absolutely no freedom to make up our minds about what
we should put in our bodies..
and therefore the govt. should regulate everything...including
antihistamines, apparently.

I dunno...I read that constitution differently...but
thankfully we have the government officials
there to interpret and save us from
our small-minded selves.

Where i live its actually not otc neither;) but if yo able to get non otc opiates like codeine u could have been also able to catch sum prometha, i thought... Its worth it! Also dont u get that sexy tasty PURPLE prometha/codi cough syrup?:)

I'd just prefer to run right quick to the store..find it..bring it home..

well benadryl (think its the US brand) does the job too...
there just a little sumthing bout promethazine which makes it my first choice :)
