I know that "Homeless" acts sort of a place to where unsure things go, but theres no place for site suggestions. Imo this causes suggestions to come out as complaints rather than constructive ideas.

Plus, they usually end up in irrelevant locations which, understandably, irritates staff.

If this suggestion forum were included here in anonomouys it would allow users to suggest things with no bias or consequence to their username.

It would help staff organize things too.

Plus, can communities really benefit better from anything than feedback, creativity, and teamwork?

Can we have a stickied thread for general Bluelight site suggestions here in "anonomouys posting?"

Here's a suggestion.

Is there not a way that perma-banned users can have their IPs blocked so that people like myself don't constantly get abusiive messages put on on the nony ban thread, that I'm unable to do owt about? If they had their IP blocked it would put a stop to this as well as them making alt accounts for further harassment.

Regards,

Evey

hello

suggestions can go in the support forum - that's, in part, what it is there for.

I see where you're coming from, but that in general, would defeat the purpose of it being "anonymous."

I can think of a few examples. Maybe a member who doesn't want to hint at the time they've spent on the site. Also, this would give an opportunity for lurkers or people ushered in through google to contribute who don't want to join.

I think we're all in agreement that lurkers, and people using the site as an encyclopedia source for harm reduction make the up the largest groups/consumers.

But also notice I prefaced the post with please circulate the thread several times to eventually end in "support."

That's a good idea. In reality, you could even have a temporary ban block the IP until it's lifted.

as ever, if you see a post on bluelight that's a problem, report it. an ip ban isn't going to stop a determined troublemaker.

on the anonymity issue, i'd give people's suggestions more weight if they were registered, active members of the community. suggestions are always welcome but if people don't want to join in and participate - the easiest and most effective way of improving bluelight - then a post in anonymous is fine. i don't think it needs a dedicated thread.

^Yea. Its just a pain tho when good anonymous ideas get buried and pushed to the back with spam.

To be honest, an anonymous suggestions drop box does seem like an appetizing idea at first. It's easy to quickly see the cracks as soon as you consider it practically.

It's difficult, or almost impossible to detect any possible poor ulterior motives to possible suggestions being made. When it's a real drop box at the Mc Donald's it seems fine and dandy to check poor on 5 boxes in a row and slander the manager. When the suggestions are on public display on a massive board, it's easy to see how that can turn into an uncontrable issue (shit show). It's simply not an even playing field and maybe even a slight misnomer to suggest that anonymity exists on the internet.

I appreciate your efforts to eliminate bias, I truly do but we won't accommodate this idea at this moment. What we have done is put up a thread for banned users to discuss their infractions due to their inability to login, and of course our support forum which is serviced by our moderators, senior staff, admins and members at all times.

There's a prefix you can select in support for site feedback. If you aren't already a member I welcome you to create an account and use our support forum at your disposal.

I'm going to move your thread.
