EMD Can we get a freakin' TECHNO thread or what?

I was a huge fan of Jeff Mills, he played with 3 decks and a 909 drum machine, I played with 3 decks and a 909 groovebox...
Omg yes Jeff Mills ⚡❤️ seen him a couple of times but one of my best nights ever was in Space in Ibiza. The Wizard. That's impressive btw would be cool to hear a set of yours 😛

Techno classic from my homestead..

Anybody here into making Tekno him/herself?

It's kinda a dream of myself to learn production but guess it won't happen anytime soon even when I have enough spare time but my attention span is down the toilet and I don't have any specific musical knowledge like playing an instrument. Had a year of music theory at evening school but this was only 1 hour per week and 10 years ago, forget most of it. Only knowledge source I have is youtube and some PDFs. Maybe somebody else started out from zero as well?

Me lol. I taught myself keyboard and now I make tunes but I'm still learning how to produce properly so it's just little ideas and not all techno either, got a few housey ones on the go atm. Getting ideas down though using my synth and some midi. Seem to be getting better at making beats. I'm working with cubase 5 atm took me a while to learn but tbf I take my time at everything lol and I can be quite dozey e.g. I still don't know how to work quantise and so don't use it but it would be really helpful. Anyway what I'm saying is you should go for it if it's something that excites you and is fun. I love it haha 😝 I find it both therapeutic and highly frustrating at times lol but mainly fun!!
Edit: not to mention sampling too! Can have a lot of fun with that! I have some ideas in mind for some of my ideas so far but if you hear something cool that gives u inspiration write it down so you can remember to sample it later

I went through all the pages, quite unimpressed!! I don't know if techno changes from country to country and year to year but for me real techno music is this kind:
There are differences for sure! Seems like the Netherlands are the current epicenter of techno, the US have a scene as well but from what I read/hear around here it's very different kind of music, more like oldschool maybe yet I personally agree to that I'm not impressed by the majority of which has been posted (knowing that it'll be other way round with my posts). Sad to read that Nazis infected the scene @Arnold but it's the same with metal, guess we have to accept and fight it. Gabber/Hardcore is nice but what I'm really in love with are the modern styles, specially Frenchcore and some Uptempo. Very lovely euphoric and uplifting but still maintains hard beats. Like HC and trance had a baby with some pop influences, taking the best of all. I've posted a load of examples on my thread here. Some are more commercial-ish (remixes/bootlegs of chart tracks) but there are also nice new creations.. this music made me overthink my aversion against going out and alcoholized freaks beating you up (verbally or physically), I definitely will attend one or another party in future. Some hardstyle is nice every now and then too but grows quickly too pop-ish imo. Goa is around everywhere but doesn't completely agree with my taste, neither do house & co.

Interesting @iTry91! How did you start out with keyboard, just bought one and read books/watched videos and tried? Is there some special resource you would recommend a noob? In past I acquired a guitar on the flea market but didn't have the endurance to exercise daily, so it's just collecting dust for now but as keyboard is the way to go for electronic music anyways it's worth a new try.

I had a second hand keyboard when I was a kid and just go by how it sounds really and learned the notes. Always wanted piano lessons but didn't touch an instrument for years and years other than strumming the acoustic guitar. Then I taught myself some piano sheet music and basically just practiced a lot and became less mechanical. Haven't practiced piano properly in 2 years now just started practicing again as fixed the plug that was broke and was an alcoholic too for years. I would recommend learning some chords and scales and playing along with some of your favourite music or getting some sheet music and learn how to play pieces you like. I have to write down what each note is because I can't sight-read fast enough. When I play on synth or make a tune I usually figure out which key I'm in which tells you which notes will work and which chords fit but usually just go by how it sounds.

This is my kind of Techno, I defy anyone to have a hit of MDMA or a little LSD and not shake a leg to this.

Frankie Bones - Call It Techno (Rialto remix)

@plumbus-nine That takes me back. Is there a Vocaloid thread here?

I still like this song as much as I did in high school.

Also if this doesn't make you feel then you need the kokoro.
