honestly, i don't think the hippies really changed much during the 60's.
the real social change came about because of the civil rights movement and the mainstreaming of vietnam war protests, not a bunch of suburban teenagers going to concerts, getting high and having lots of sex with each other.

I'm a selfish person for the most part anyway. Changing the world for other people/sacrificing just doesn't work for me. So I'll take my drugs and be happy with what I have and be on my way

The CSA was made because of hippies. Tim Leary is a cunt and he almst single handedly help the cause to make drugs illegal (not just through taxes). I hate when people thank the hippies. You really like that when hard drugs came there was an epidemic of abondoning children and homelessness? Do you really like the name they gave drug users as a whole? Yes. Every individual's actions effect the world. An individual is more influential upon the world the more they believe in their individual power. I like to think of Ghandi's hunger strikes as an example of a way an individual can cause mass change
You are sadly misguided. Hippie/baby boomer culture didn't change shit, at least for the better. Ultimately, the boomer's have created a culture where the self is valued above all else. The end result of the hippie's ideals has not been peace and love but rather unchecked free markets, the self-serving hypocrisy of evangelical Christianity, AIDS, a divorce rate hovering around 50%, trillions in debt, the socio-economic genocide of gentrification and subsequent rise of exburbs, the current mortgage/economic crisis, increasing disparity between rich and poor coupled with the death of the middle class, cable news, the war on drugs and the surge in the prison population along with the privatization of the justice system and sundry other pleasures of our Reaganist dystopia.
The boomer mindset is a new paganism, with acquisition as its Athena and the concept of the self (a fairly recent, wholly bourgeoise idea propagated by ideologically bankrupt frauds like Freud and Ayn Rand) as its Zeus enthroned in its olympian Manhattan penthouse. If you are want to go out into a field to listen to music, get high and fuck then power to you but to believe that your hedonism serves any purpose beyond self-satisfaction and filling the coffers of a few scummy drug dealers is at best foolish and at worst dangerous. For all intents and purposes, the 'tea parity' movement closer to the spirit of the original Woodstock than any music festival you have attended.

We can do so by killing the baby boomers, lest they rape social security, price us out of housing, education and healthcare, and sell us to the Chinese.
