hey guys,
hope everyone's been getting better:\ haven't/dont have time to browse so i dont know whats been going on with all of ya.

i posted this in the depression thread but im gonna ask it here so hopefully i get some more answers:
anyways i was wondering if anyone had some insight on something stuck in my thoughts:
can stress cause chemical changes leading to depression? i think i remember something about the hormone Cortisol wreaking havoc on neurotransmitters. its just that i've gotten past the main- stressor in my life but im still depressed, and its fucking getting worse...

i know drugs arent helping at all, but i was clean for a few weeks and it was the worst i've ever felt.
it was a beautiful day, i was in the mountains with my "family" on a little vacation and i just felt like complete shit.
i just wanted to cry and run anywhere, just run:(

which led to me going back to Adderall (i had/have a huge problem with the stuff ) this week :(
i told my connect not to sell to me anymore, so i should be done with that today.
and this weekend i plan on rolling (MDMA) with my bestfriend only because MDMA is so beneficial to me psychologically/emotionally/overall (while im on it and the next few months IME )
but after this weekend i plan on stopping everything so wish me luck guys :(

and once again, hope everyones doing better than the last thread (thats the last time i had time to read8))

I haven't been to classes in what feels like ages so I won't pretend to know what exactly occurs in the brain when we are feeling stressors.

I do know that it is all part of the process to feel absolutely miserable in the beginning stages of quitting most chemicals. The overwhelming emotions are among the first things to hit us and throw us into a tailspin. Please be prepared for this for when you quit again next week because the emotions will most definitely hit you again in some manner. All you can do is ride it out :(. IT WILL PASS. When? Fuck, who knows? The only thing that we can know is that it will be uncomfortable and that it will pass.

So many changes occur when we quit that its overwhelming. It gets easier over a slow period of time and then we start feeling like completely different people.

Try to remember the changes that you went through previously so that you are somewhat prepared for the return of whatever consequences/results they delivered before. Now that your enemy has revealed how they atttack (emotionally in this case) it now has lost some of its power because you can be a little bit prepared for it.

Ride it out no matter what! You'll see. In time things will be quite different on a positive level <3

Hang in there Fyasko <3

OverDone's right - these things take time, I wish I had a magic wand to make it all better instantly.. cortisol certainly can affect neurotransmittors, but I actually find I feel worse when the stress has gone too. Whether this is biological - cortisol keeping me in a "fight or flight" state then when it goes I don't have that to keep me going - or whether it's psychological - your brain just needs some time to get over the stress/trauma and unfortunately as it is working through it all and processing it all you can feel a lot worse - I don't know. A combination of the two, I imagine.

Be careful with the MDMA - it can be hugely beneficial at the time but the crash can amplify depression hugely.. good luck with being clean after that, it really sounds like the best thing for you even if it doesn't feel like it is helping at first <3

Ride it out, as OD said - things will get better sometime, and don't be afraid to reach out for help (IRL or on here) whenever you need it! Talking through your past stresses can intensify the depression in the short term, as it brings things to the surface, but in the long run it really helps you to process your emotions and get yourself to a better place :) <3

Hey man was just reading about something like this but yes it can. And I know adrenal fatigue is one of the ways it can happen.
