Can regular use of adderall make you unable to get high from cocaine?

I've taken adderall every day for about four years (non-abusively, but I think at this point I'm dependent on it). The last couple times I did cocaine I have not gotten high at all--just felt myself coming off of it, which was actually milder than the cracked-out feeling I get from some generic types of adderall. Because I do cocaine so rarely (maybe 2 or 3 times a year) I don't think its possible I have any specific tolerance to it. Is it possible that I have some kind of broad spectrum tolerance now to stimulants, because of my adderall use?

Most stimulants are cross-tolerant, so it's very possible.

Welcome to Bluelight.

It's very possible that the cocaine you got was weak as adderall and cocaine do act slightly differently in your brain. I too take adderall/amphets quite often and it never seemed to make me more tolerant to good coke.

^^. The operative word in the above post is "good coke".

Even though adderall is a shit amp comparatively, its still pharm grade, even if it is low dose.

There are some possible answers to your situation:

1. Most likely: Regular adderall usage has definitely raised your tolerance to coke since they both work on dopamine and related areas. They are definitely cross tolerant on a theoretical level. Thats a fact.

2. Your coke is shitty (just like everybody elses is except the lucky few with good coke), but thats normal, most coke cant really compare to the quality of amps when considering the same price.

3. You are used to the adderall effect mentally (talking now non tolerance related but experience related) and coke seems less good. This happened to me. Even a bit of decent meth is way better then normal street coke. Street coke has a much much greater "cracked out" speedy feeling (meaning increased anxiety to positive effect ratio) then amps do imo.

It is really easy to get caffeine/benzocaine in place of coke on the street...

You definitely aren’t going to be high on that.

Look for better coke.

Regular amphetamine use will make you cross tolerant with other dopaminergic stimulants like e.g. mephedrone, methylphenidate or cocaine, to a large extent.

That makes sense.
I used to take adderall alot back in HS.. up to the point where 3-4 30mg xr adderalls didn't give me that euphoric feeling anymore..
Can't get high off adderall or coke anymore..

Both stimulants affect the transport of dopamine, as well as norepinephrine and serotonin, but do so through different and complex mechanisms of action. Though I don't think there is a 'cross tolerance' exactly, I do think there would exist some phenomenon of decreased sensitivity to cocaine due to amp use. I think the likely explanation for someone who takes amphetamine daily and experiences disappointing results from cocaine is either (A) Your coke is shit, or (B) To put it simply, the available concentrations of relative neurotransmitters are generally depleted/less than those of a naïve user, which equates to a diminished effect.

Coke is a dopamine re up take inhibitor for the most part. While adderall is a dopamine releaser which is more euphoric imo. With that being said adderall is usually more euphoric because it is hard finding quality coke. So just use adderall and tell the coke to fuck off :)

But by all means when you do get good coke, it is more than worth it.
