I've been using opioids daily for about 8 years now, following a 12 year period of total abstinence as a result of past IV addiction.
Anyway, now I mainly use kratom but in rather high amounts daily (50-70gpd). I experience withdrawal if I miss a dose. I also utilize various pharmaceutical opioids when the opportunity presents itself. Regardless, I have been dependent for a long time. I struggle with a lot of chronic pain.
I have been experiencing autoimmune disease symptoms that started during my period of abstinence, though have persisted into my current use and seem to be getting worse. I currently have a manifestation that is highly indicative of a compromised immune system. I'm trying to get in with rheumatology now.
Just curious if long term opioid use is associated with a weakening of the immune system or implicated in the onset of autoimmune disorders in any way?
