On a big Island surrounded by sharks.
I got a prescribed a 50ml bottle of "Xylocaine 10% Pump Spray (Lignocaine 100mg/ml)" for a severely painful tonsilitis. Its very strong stuff apparently used by dentists and other medical staff and it cost me $60 to buy, I only used a little bit and have a whole bottle left over so I was wondering if I can use it for other purposes as well?

The product information says it was "designed to provide anaesthesia of mucous membranes" but I was wondering if it would be still just as effective for trans-dermal or topical use? I've heard of lignocaine being available in trans-dermal patch for pain relief and as a gel or cream that can be applied to your penis head to be used for longer lasting sex but because my one is a pump spray designed for mucous membranes like inside the mouth, throat will I need apply more of the product for it to be effective on the skin?

I have really bad knee pains so if I sprayed it around my knees will it get absorbed enough to numb it and take away the pain? I was also wondering if I use it to prolong sex by spraying it on the penis will it be safe just to use it straight up undiluted?

Also what is the difference between Lignocaine and Lidocaine?

Lignocaine is the old British name for lidocaine, and yes the spray can be used e.g. topically. It won't be quite as effective as using it on a mucous membrane, but it's better than diphenhydramine as a local anesthetic.

Most topical lidocaine gels and preparations are usually 1 to 2% lidocaine, you may want to dilute it a bit.
