Can Liberty cap mushrooms or any other psilocybe cause heart failure, convulsions, kidney failure etc.. Just wanted to know becasue my brother has had convusions off of a dxm trip and he wants to do a gram of liberty caps.
Is this a good idea? And can these to things be related..

I have a feeling it wont its just i dont want to put him in a wrong place because he just lost his twin from cancer (My older brother also) and i dont want anything bad to happen to him from stupid petty drugs..

Thats what i figured but thanks.. Just dont wana risk it ya know, and thanks once again. just to be on the same side.

^^^^ This. The only "documented" (cited) fatality from Psilocybe mushrooms occurred in Washington State, decades ago. A young girl (6, I believe?) was "grazing" in the back yard and ate a large amount of mushrooms, purportedly identified as Psilcybe baeocystis. She developed a very high fever and went into convulsions, and eventually died from pulmonary edema. This case has since been disputed, with possible misidentification of the mushrooms the likely error. These symptoms are interesting however, as they don't resemble what is usually found in mushroom deaths. Jury is still out here.....

But yeah, Psilocin itself is pretty goddamn benign. An LD/50 of 280 mg/kg is the oft cited figure, but who knows how it plays out in humans. We are lucky in that all common Psilocybe mushrooms produce just our desired indole alkylamines , and not other nasty stuff. Nature can be so cooperative sometimes!

Cheers

Dry or fresh? I should hope fresh......they are potent little buggers...Blow cubensis right out of the water, err...pasture!

Do you have a link or a source for this? Even with a child I would imagine it would be very difficult to eat an amount sufficient for a fatal overdose, especially since theyd be fresh... Not saying its impossible but seems very unlikely,,

edit: unless she had an allergic reaction or something

be aware that there are always some cases of people who have enzyme deficiencies or allergic reactions for the organic matter that shrooms are make of (not to mention spores for those who have easily irritated respiratory systems). also, aren't there some psyches that lower the seizure threshold? not sure if psilocin is one of the big offenders, but i wouldn't doubt it. excitation of my neurons is kind of the primary reason i might want to eat it. that said, they are pretty safe as long as they've been properly identified.

@OP: I hope you tried those caps before and know what you're getting. from my experience 12g (wtf man!?) of dry semilanceata will blow you into a state you could never imagine - the void, the light, whatever; but there will be no "you" whatsoever within ~45min. and it's not necessarily positive.
quite possibly an experience you'd have to chew on for a few months...

people have had ++++ from just 2,5g. me for example.

maybe you're a hard head. but that's the kind of shit people come out with PTSD. at least.
think twice before you do it plz.

^ Good advice, you can always easy eat more as time goes on but once down the hatch its already too late. And don't try to ralph them up either you'll just trip harder.

Invite more friends or save some for a later date! Happy tripping!!

Lmao nahh i have about 10 years of experience with jsut liberty capss. and 12g's isnt to much to me.. i have done around 16.5 17g's at once before so.

And btw he has a clienfelters disorder also so will it react to that?

Yeah, thats why it is disputed. I tried to find a more verifiable source; it is oft cited in mushroom fields guides and I think Mushroom John had a scanned newspaper copy on his cite. But I couldn't find much, just vague mentions. The symptoms don't fit with the normal amanita toxin profile (renal failure, hepatoxicity) nor most other toxic profiles. It has remained an interesting anecdote for decades now.......

EDIT - well, I found this, but it doesn't tell anymore than I already did, and doesn't have a linked source either.

(from the shroomery)

A six year old girl ate mushrooms, identified later as P. baeocystis, growing near a conifer stand near her home in Kelso, Washington. She was found by her parents in an ataxic and incoherent state. She was admitted to a local hospital in a convulsive state, with fixed, dilated pupils and warm skin. Her temperature was 106 degrees. She died three days later after developing pulmonary edema.

can't believe you can handle this. maybe your shrooms are weak. I can't imagine taking more than 3,5g of semilanceata...to each his own though...

-

don't wanna sound inappropriate but: klinefelter's syndrome? twins? wow.
anyway: I can't imagine any interaction between the syndrome and use of psychedlics...
