i've been an IV user of opiates for over a year, and before that was an opiate abuser for a year. I've been going hard for two years straight. I was even put on hydromorphones for a 'doctor assisted withdrawal' (i had never been prescribed any opioid other than codeine before, my doc put me on hydro's for the sole purpose of tapering my dose down to 0mg), however being the junky i was i lied about how much i was shooting daily (about 18-24mg a day) and he started me on 36mg a day. I didn't eat them orally and i always shot them which actually boosted my tolerance.

2 and a half months in, i was arrested, i came in with a full bottle of XANAX and only two of my hydromorphones. I called my mom from the correctional facility and asked her to bring my hydro's. she said she'd do it the next day.

After two days i was very upset, and VERY dopesick. They had not given me any of my medication, not even my xanax or my seroquel (for sleep). I screamed, yelled and hollared at the top of my lungs to take me to the hospital and the guards just laughed at me and didn't do fuck all. After about two hours of me screaming they came and opened the slot on my door and said 'we will take you to the nurses station now, if you do not comply with orders chemical weapons will be used on you'. i was just so happy to finally be seen by someone i obviously had no problems following their orders.

I got there and they said they are taking me off of hydros and xanax because i'm no longer under the care of my medical doc, i am now under the care of the jail doctor! I told my mom after and then she flushed my 40 dilly 12's down the toilet!

I spent a total of 8 days incarcerated and was not given any medication. I almost died I'm pretty sure, i was close to fainting multiple times.
Anyways thats the story, is there some way i can get compensated for the torture i went through? i get it's jail but how can they cold turkey me off of two highly addictive downers that i have been using for over 2 years? I'm on 4mg xanax daily for christ sake! I'm 80% sure on the third day i almost died.

Sorry bro, but even though it felt like you were dying, you weren't and you didn't. And it isn't torture. And they didn't have any responsibility to provide your drugs, and there is no justification for being compensated. It sucks, I'm not apologizing for them because I know how wrong our penal system is, but seriously. Anyway, look at it like this, you kicked. Take the opportunity to stay clean and move on. You have now tapered to 0mg!

Most of the time, prison doctors lean towards prescribing fewer narcotics among the populance. Pretty self-evident why.
From what I've heard most prisons won't prescribe narcotics/BZD's for withdrawal unless you'll be in status epilepticus otherwise, and even then they would be titrating you to 0 pretty quick.

You end up in prison, one of the rights you lose is the right to choose your own doctor.

Sound's fucked to me.
But your out & fine, big up's for da 8 days though!!
Why did your mom flush the hydros for? If she was ready to bring them to you?

I'm sorry, your situation sounds horrible but we still don't allow legal discussion on BL.

To put it simply we can only speculate (which in itself makes it against guidelines) and you would be served better consulting a solicitor/lawyer anyway.

Good luck.
