Can I Go Back To Sub Doc?

In early July when I was trying to get off my 100mg a day oxy habit I went to see a sub doc. They prescribed 8mg four times a day and told me to come back in two weeks. They wrote the script for two weeks worth. Something like 60 8mg subutex pills. I knew 8mg was too much but I was glad to get that many pills so I could stretch them out. I tried in the 0.5 to 1mg at a time.

Some I try the Subutex and it sucks! Makes me feel like a zombie and I quit. The sub doc starts calling a lot two weeks later and I avoid them thinking I'm not gonna use the subs. I feel pretty stupid about this now.

So about a month after I gave up on the Subutex I decide to give it another try. I find that something close to 0.5mg twice a day works pretty good for me. For some reason the second try went much better then the first.

My huge stash of 8mg sub pills is slowly starting to go away and they are working great. This is the longest I have been off opiates in years. I thought these 60 pills would last forever considering my small dose. I don't know what to do now. Can I call the same sub doc back up? What do I say? This is the only sub doc in my town!

They were very cheap and did not even make me have to be in withdrawals to see them. They just took my word for it. They even wrote a script for subutex since I couldn't afford suboxone. Great people there. I feel stupid now for not going back for my second visit.

Any suggestions? Please don't just say wean yourself off the subutex. I know I could do that but I also know I'm not ready for that. I will go back to oxy if I get off right now. I need more subs! I would love to get over prescribed again considering how long I can make these things last and there impossible for me to abuse.

Just stop taking them for a little while, go cold turkey, then rock down there before you get too bad, they'll sort you out again for sure, but if they didn't need you to be in wd before, they will now, so just start and see them again. They aint stupid...

Although you said not to tell you to wean off em, but seriously, 0.5mg twice a day? I breath more than that out everytime I sneeze...

Yes go back - be honest and tell your doc what you told us regarding dosage. (Don't tell them about you hoarding the pills though.) Any doctor worth their pay will listen and want to know what has worked for you. The only way a doctor can do their best work to help you, is if you are honest with them. They may have a difference in opinion on what should be best for you, but if they aren't willing to listen to an honest patient and take your experience and opinion into consideration, and explain why they feel a different route would be best for you - fire them!

People need to realize that doctors are employed by you essentially. You should, and can, treat your doctor as someone you can tell everything to, regarding your health, drug use, and goals. They have their expertise, and you know you best. You need to be able to trust that you can work with your doctor towards your own best interest.

How should I approach them though. I don't want to tell them the total truth. I don't want them to know that many pills can last me like six months. If they knew that I would get like 2mg pills.

Should I tell them i tried and gave up last time? I was thinking of telling them I gave up the first time and still had a few pills left and I decided to try again and already started. I'm just worried about how I should approach them. I don't want to come across like I'm abusing or selling anything.

honesty works best, i'd tell them everything because if you try to lie they can tell

just say you relapsed and was ashamed about it and now you want to get clean for real, most doctors dealing with Narcotics addiction are aware that the relapse rates are very high, and almost expect a couple of relapses, he should be understanding but may put you on a urinalysis regimen to deter further relapses.

They are probably gonna look at you with a little suspicion, they'll probably think you just came to get the first script to get well, and that it was a just a one time junky move to get yourself out of withdrawals. But they deal with addicts, which means dealing with situations like yours all time, so i think they will understand. just call them up and tell them the truth. And if they say no, dont limit yourself to just looking for a doctor in your town. i thought there was only one Sub Doc. in my town, then i found out about 20 miles away they had a walk-in Suboxone Clinic, no appointment needed. I was like the 10th person, the 10th customer of that clinic, but even today, now that there are many patients, it is still walk-in, or at the very worst, an appointment within 24 to 48 hours ( i know this cuz ive turned my friends on to my clinic ). i think they will understand though, and youll be alright.

Yeah, I don't think they will give you much grief. I did the EXACT same thing in June, myself. I just said I had a hard time dealing with my pain, which was partly true.
But if you have a good, cheap sub. doc., I would recommend not loosing him. Some of these dudes are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive.

Drop me a PM if you need to talk.

Best

Just make sure when you get back into the program that you comply with absolutely all of their regulation, be a model patient and dont give them any reaon to doubt your integrity
