Can I Ask A Question About Fentynal Patches?

I am so sorry, but I read the guidelines for the forum, but they made me more confused. I don't know what you mean by no pill identifications (do you mean we can't specify the drug we are talking about?) Anyway, I will ask my questions and apologize up front if they violate the rules and understand that the question will be removed. I am not trying to break any rules, just to get my questions answered.

I have recently been prescribed Fentynal Patches (non gel kind-50mcgs) after being on extended release Morphine for a couple of years. Every once in a while (only about 1-2x a month) I enjoy getting a little "high" from the morphine. When I needed that extra relaxation feeling I would peel off the skin of the extended release pill (about 4 100mg) and then take about 4-5 regular release 15mg morphine tabs and that would do the trick.

Well, now I'm on Fentynal and had heard that heating up the patch will accelerate the release of the medication and give you a high. So I have two questions about this. 1) How long do I hold a hair dryer on the patch before it starts to work and 2) IF I do this, will it make the medication run out faster. In other words, will the patch not actually last the 72 hours it's supposed to?

I would really appreciate some guidance on this matter and hope I haven't crossed any of the boundaries set here.

I've done this trick when I was prescribed them and got dose dumped on-- was driving then bam insanely fucked up had to pull over. Be careful this may just be me but its worth noting.

yep, it works, and as a result it the risk factor goes way up when you're applying external heat to a fentanyl patch.

it's easy to get used to the heat and blister yourself as well, so don't get too excited while you're doing it. a hair dryer is more likely to end up in blisters than say, a heating pad on low, so be wary while actually putting the heat on.

it'll definitely use the patch up quicker, but that's alright since it generally isn't necessary to mess with it until the later half of the second day after you've put it on.

whatever you do, don't go pushing your limits with fent. if you're purple lipped and feel like shit, take the patch off.
