Benzos Can I administer intravenous lorazepam (Ativan) via other routes of administration?

you can do either, I'd prefer to plug it since drinking that solution tends to be hard on the stomach. I used to have a bunch of valium and midazolam usp vials and if you squirted 2ml into a drink and drank it it tasted like some rank booze and caused some horrible discomfort. plug it or im it. i.v. is kind of pointless.

From Wikipedia:

Lorazepam is highly protein bound and is extensively metabolised into pharmacologically inactive metabolites.[4] Due to its poor lipid solubility, lorazepam is absorbed relatively slowly by mouth and is unsuitable for rectal administration.

With such high oral BA, I would squirt it into my mouth... Or IV or IM.

Why is it unsuitable for rectal administration?

I've known quite a few doctors in family practice who deal with epileptic children, and if you can't get a safe injection during a seizure, parents are often instructed to rectally administer the IV solution via syringe. Do a google search, there's even guides about administering rectal lorazepam (and also rectal diazepam, although lorazepam is more effective for seizures) for therapeutic reasons.
