Can hydromorphone be used to come off heroin?

I am curious if high doses of hydromorphone can be used to kick a heroin habit....or at least make the WD process easier in combination with Kratom. I made another thread but I'm trying to get a direct answer to this question. Oh, and Tramal will be readily available. I would use methadone for a month and taper off of that if I could, but I can't get the stuff right now (still trying).....unless I go to a clinic far far away from me every day. I have a prescription of Dilaudid of 8mg 4X a day. I can probably get a little more for when I decide to push the button to detox. I know how fast D works and how slow methadone works.....they are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. All I'm trying to achieve is an easy detox from the H. I will continue to use the D if I want to feel my legs and and back and not suffer all day. I'm hoping larger doses of D will let the detox process go a lot smoother....I tried cold and warm turkey. I need to get a little warmer. Last time, all I used was xanax, seroquel, clonazapam, (I have a script for those) tramal.

Sadly, I need the D to be pain free....or else I'm in horrific pain all day. Thanks.

lol dilaudid is def not hydrocodone... and im sure this isnt what you want to hear but they are both opiates and both are what cause your WD, so no using one instead of the other will not get you over your addiction... and in my opion, pills are more addicting then H... personally i use to get sicked comming off of perc 30s then shootin dope, and i get my H straight from detroit and its always fire... your best bet is to ween yourself off the H and just smoke weed or if you cant afford the H, ween yourself off with the pills... or just stop cold turkey... but in short, no if you start taking alot of pills it will not help with getting over the withdraws... hope this helps

This is probably going to come down to willpower more than anything else, and really a longer acting opiate is probably a better idea for heroin detoxing. I saw your other thread and it's just so difficult to gauge your tolerance based on what you've said that it's impossible for me to say.

With NOTHING else aside from my prescribed Dilaudid, Xanax, Seroquel, and clonazapam.....I can go a day without puking and throwing up all over the plates....before the sweats and chills come in. My tolerence is high, I can slam 5 8mg of D in one shot and not feel all that much because the H is in my system. I miss just being on the D. Fuckn H.

Im gonna just respond to the thread title. You can't use an opiate to come off of an opiate, that'd just be switching opiates. They all do the same thing. Hydromorphone is one of the stronger opiates, too.

I guess if you're asking if you can switch from Heroin to Hydromorphone comfortably, the answer is yes.

You're in a really tricky situation here. You're going to run out of your dilaudid early, especially if you're having to take more to bring your tolerance from the H down. Then you'll be sick anyway. So I might just try to come off the H and stay on your prescribed dilaudid... but that will be tough

what I would do is, stick with the H until you can get by with only the H. all while making sure your dose is getting to the point where your hydromorphone daily dose will meet your tolerance, thus staving off withdrawals.

if you are kicking heroin because you dont want to be on opiates/opioids then this will NOT work

but if youre switching a more powerful substance for a slightly less powerful, yes. this will work.

^That's a good idea if you have the self-control to do it. That way you're not screwing with your script and having to get H after you run out of hydromorphone anyway or something like that.

Great info peeps, thanks!! Just to be clear because some seemed a bit confused...I want/have to stay on the dilaudid. I want to kick the H and ONLY use the dilaudid.

Someone said, "stick with the H until you can get by with only the H". I can do that. I use just H alone fine. Not even using my D right now because it does NOTHING....no matter how much I take. I wish I could do just H, but it's dangerous and I know it's wrong. I came to a point where my constant slip and falls made me cry...knocked myself out once as well. The pain was like sharp knives digging into my back and feet/legs. So I said fuck it, and started using H. It worked. Made all the pain go away. But it's getting expensive and this is no way to live. With just the D in my life, I was doing fine aside when I would injure myself.

you also may wana go to the ER and ask for clonodine... that shit worked miracles with me after i tappered myself down... i tried it once when i was doing a hlf gram a day and i think i just had it in my head that this wasnt going to help and i didnt wana stop at the time so it didnt work, but after getting myself down to a couple folds a day and having to stop it took away a good 90% of the WD symptoms... and if you go to the ER you wont have to goto a detox facility and you can keep it a little more hush hush if you dont or cant just stop living your day to day life for 7-10 days

Can I tell the ER I lost my script and need clonodine to get by? Because I do often misplace my script when I travel so much, and I have lost it once or twice. What say you???

it sounds stupid... and the first time i found out what it was for was part of the reason i got it in my head that it wasnt gona help... but it is a drug that helps to regulate blood pressure, and from my understanding is pretty common place in detox facilities... it does not have any opiates in it and their not over the counter, but they come in patch and pill... usually they will give a 7 day patch and a few pills at the ER... more or less just go in tell them you are experiencing WD symptoms and would like to try it out, i highly doubt that any doctor would turn you away because you cant get high on it... anyways its just a suggestion, that shit was what i needed to get over the hump cause im sure you know when your high its easy as hell to tell yourself this is it im done but once you start to feel that sickness creep up on you opions chance real quick... but yea google it and youll see hundreds of stories about ppl saying how much it helped them out

I'll look into it. I'll just show up at the ER and say I lost my one month script and to give me as much of the stuff as they can because me friend told me it will help me with my WD until I get my next script. Got it and well noted. Thank you kind sir.

just becareful tho man cause is you tell em that you have a script and that your going thru WDs they might cut or cancel it... i would mabe try and go to a hospital that isnt your normal one (but i gues you could have got the script from a doc not at a hospital) just go in and say you want the patch and you need it because of pills... they may find out about your script, they may over look it but you have less of a chance of losing it if you dont come out and tell em about it ( but mabe losing it wouldnt be the worst thing either but it sounds like you have a legit need for them) anyways just something else to think about.... let us know how it goes man and your welcome, i always try n help ppl out when i can... im not religious but i do believe in karma

Oooo....I can't risk losing my script. I seriously can't walk right and keep loosing my balance without my meds. They had me on longer acting stronger meds at higher doses, but I kept getting sick and nasty side effects. D was the only med that didn't do that to me, thing that sucks is that I have to take it every 6 hours. But I don't need it at all if I use H. I really hope I can just switch the H to only D. If I can do that my life will get back on track like it was before. I know it still sounds like a lot of D, but that was the dose I needed in order to be pain free and to function normally.

Tell me.....when the day comes and I finally take my last shot of H. I'm going to take everything I have at my disposal to make the WD as easy as I can....when would you suggest I start my first shot of D?? Because last time, when the WD hit me hard....I took a 32mg shot and it didn't do shit for me. And I took two of them so the D was useless. I remember when I would get pain relief off of just 4mg...but then I got sick and injured and found my doc giving me 8mg 4X a day. Ugh...but hey, I function normally and I'm pain free. And for ME, that's all I want. Not looking to get high and have fun. Trying to get my life back on track....a little green once in a while after hard days at the gym, but I limited there now as well so....blah. Thanks for the info....any other tips or info guys??

mabe have someone you know go and get the patch for you... that wil guarentee your script doesnt get fucked with... and the last time i went to the ER and got one they gave me a refill for two more but they put one on my arm... so it is possible to just peel it off whos ever arm and slap it on yours but some ppl wouldnt do it just outa priniciple.... anyways just another thought

I like your thinking. I suppose I can get something like that worked out. If it's OTC in Europe, I will just buy the stuff. I'm going to find out if my bros pharmacy in Europe has it.
