I was feeling a bit nauseous today, after drinking tons of beer for the 4th of July.
So I went and raided my gramparents bathroom for some dramamine.
To my delight there was some. Thank god.
I took half of one, not wanting to get too drowsy.
And I was more drowsy than I've ever been from dramamine!!! Usually I have to take 2 of them from a brand new bottle to get to sleep, but this half of one had me wanting to nap at work!

Tonight I went to go take another, just for sleep, and I noticed that the packet (shiny golden packet I've never seen in my life) says 9/86
It expired almost 3 years before I was born!
Obviously it's not dangerous, since I took them and fared well, but can they have become magically more potent over the years?

No. In fact they are probably as stable and good as the day they were made. I would expect most if not all properly manufactured pills to last 50 or even 100 years.

There are a few exceptions that gain potency with age but they are truly exceptions. Not pharmaceuticals.

However, if you haven't taken dramamine in quite a while, the effects can be very potent indeed.

I didn't combine them though. I drank the night before.
I suppose it could have still affected it, but I wasn't feeling the alcohol by morning. Slightly nauseous as stated but that's it.
1986 though... They haven't even lived in this house for that long. They must have moved that dramamine so many times over the years. XD

Oh, gotcha.

As the other poster said, antihistamines can be rather intense the first time you have taken them in a long while. I wouldn't know what else to say though.

Yea it's been a week or two since the last time I took them. Tolerance builds quickly (3 days) but I guess falls just as quickly.
Never had half of one affect me like that though. Sleep was so near, but I couldn't rightfully crash out in my cubicle...
I'll have to keep that in mind. Daytime drowsiness just sucks.
I took a lorazepam later and it actually helped perk me up. Lmfao.
