Can Diphenhydramine cause Heart palpitations?

Hello,
I'm am new here so sorry if these falls into the wrong category. Feel free to move it if it isn't.

I take Diphenhydramine Aka. DPH, for its anxiolytic and hypnotic properties after a pretty bad run in with benzo addiction.
It gets me too bed, and takes away a lot of the symptoms associated with benzo W/D.
I take about anywhere from 150mg-250mg everyday before i go to bed, for the past month.
However, last night i took 300mg because i was in a terrible mood and blah blah blah.
I got the usual effects e.x: Heavy limbs, sedation etc.
However at about 20 minutes after the initial effects, i felt a wierd sensation in my chest.
My heart started pumping really fast, then slow, then it felt like it dropped/stopped, then fast.
Then it went away, until about 10-15 minutes later it started again.
This went on for about an hour, and i woke up feeling faint and my chest has been hurting all day.

I have done some research on the subject and so far here is what i came up with.
DPH is known to block potassium channels, hence the RLS involved with large DPH doses.
(Got this info from wikipedia and other posts on this website.)

I also know really low potassium levels can cause Heart Palpitations. (got this info from http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003081.htm)
I have been taking it this whole month, and my muscle are increasingly prone to cramping
so i am assuming that these Heart palpitations could have been cause in the low potassium levels.

Can anyone give me any insight into this? Call me paranoid, but heart problems are a phobia of mine.

NOTE: I do NOT take DPH for its delirant properties, and have never exceeded 300mg.

Alright, thank you so much for telling me. I guess i'm gonna have to stop taking it
I just needed to know if it was a side-effect, or if it was my actual heart
because I was born with a Congential Heart Defect,
and I just wanted too make sure it wasn't coming back with a vengeance in the form of a heart attack or stroke.

Does any know of alternatives like DPH, that do not cause heart palpitations?
