Cocaine Can Cocaine NOT work for some people?

I've never found sniffed coke to be all that great. It can definitely a subtle high if you are not used to its effects. But sniff enough in one night and it can easily go from a subtle kind of mood and stamina boost to an edgy and gritty and all around jacked up coke experience that isn't really fun.

The only memorable sniffed coke experiences I've had were when I lived in Peru and I don't think I have to say much more than that. That was NOT a subtle high.

IV and smoked coke (crack) is definitely NOT subtle. To me it is reallllllllly euphoric and the rush is amazing and sometimes even scary if it gets too intense too fast. IMO smoking or IV is the only way to truly enjoy coke. Sniffing it is mostly just a waste of your money.

However it is possible that your body just doesn't respond to coke the way that other people respond to it. You could require more for the same effect or it might not make much of a difference at all. Some people actually respond in opposite the way other people do (there is a medical term for this but I can't remember it at the moment). For example, low doses of pseudofed (for congestion, colds, etc) make me very sleepy whereas most people perk up and get a little jittery. I have to take 80mgs+ otherwise I'll doze off.

I have done/sold my fair share of cocaine over the years, and insufflating it just isn't that fantastic. I've had good/bad coke, washed coke, etc. But I have to agree about IVing it. Shooting a nice shot of good coke is fucking better than any MDMA I have ever done. Damn. Incredible rush, most of the time makes you puke it is so intense. Make the rush of heroin seem like fucking aspirin.

Now speedballs are another story.. But in the name of harm reduction, I digress.

I hate coke. It does nothing but make me feel good for about 5 minutes and then put me in a shitty mood for the rest of the night. Even if I do more it doesn't matter...it just makes me feel worse and worse. It really is a terrible drug. I don't understand why anyone does it. Even worse, I don't understand why I still do it sometimes even knowing how much I hate it.

Quick question for the OP here : Are you, or have you been on any prescription drugs in the last year or so?

I know there are so many posts already but i had to share an experience I had with coke. I was on Grand Cayman and this dude called "Ice" sold me a 20 of the tiniest bag of this orange looking powder I thought was bullshit. Well after bumping half the bag I was literally free-style rapping with a bunch of pistol-strapped jamaicans on bearbelly blvd. WTF?! Why can't shitty US coke be like that. I personally have hated all the us coke i've done, too much adulterants from scarface wannabe retards.

- On a side note imho if it makes your mouth numb then its lidocaine but if it makes your whole face "feel" numb....then its the shit.

Some people get high on a drug but don't like the high. I've seen many people who already enjoy meth unable to enjoy coke.

On the other hand there's the story with cinnamoylcocaine. Producers oxydize the coke to eliminate the cinnamoylcocaine. Due to the scarcity of oxidizer (permanganate) producers use second-rate oxidizers (like hydrogen peroxyde). The result is that too much cinnamoylcocaine stays in the coke. And cinnamoylcocaine gives a high without much euphoria, although the coke may be rather pure. Plus, cinnamoycocaine displaces real (non-cinnamoyl) cocaine from brain receptors.

Finally, snorted coke was never meant to produce a rush, just a subtle, qualitative high. That's why snorted coke is so socially "accepted" (though not legal !) in South America. They snort coke like you drink double expressos or smoke a strong cigarette in other countries.

First post. I've done 100% pharmaceutical grade yay. No euphoria. I try to figure out why and i have a theory

I've always had ADD/ADHD symptoms, and I know one theory is that the brain doesn't release normal levels of dopamine (DA) hence they prescribe amphetamine.

I think my brain, and those of others that experience the same thing on cocaine, dont naturally release as much DA as is normal in the population. Since cocaine exerts its effects by blocking DA reuptake, if theres lower tonic (normal) levels of DA, theres not as much in the synaptic cleft when you take cocaine, and thus no euphoria.

This hypothesis can be validated by the fact that in these individuals who don't experience euphoria, most will if they take amphetamine/methamphetamine. This makes sense, as we (the ppl who dont get coke euphoria) probably have no defeceit in DA production; only its release. So we release normal levels upon amphetamine administration as other individuals, and feel euphoria from these drugs (which cause release of DA rather than block reuptake)

Its worthwhile to state that changes in ones brain can reduce tonic (normal) DA release, as opposed to just lifelong/innately low levels. Use of opiates, both chronic and acute, will result lower DA release in the nucleus accumbens. Most of us are probably guilty of this.... Other things that reduce DA release besides genetic factors and drug use are pain( esp. Chronic pain and neuropathic pain), depression, and especially stress.

I used to get euphoria from cocaine when younger and started using it; around 18 y.o. Im twice as old now and it doesn't happen for me, regardless of dose or route of admin. However, if I use it, I still crave the need for more after its over, this despite the lack of euphoria and aversive symptoms of use (anxiety, lack of social interaction, lack of drive etc, basically opposite the effects normal ppl experience)

thats all i got.

It just sounds like you are dependent on the feeling of coke.... Take a break and I'd suggest weening off after such long term use until the euphoria returns without the coke.

Basically look foot euphoria in better things in life.... Even with pure coke there's no reason to live on it. It would be like living on an SSRI

Edit: Guess I gotta say welcome too! Thank you for writing your post clearly and well. If you fix this dependency thing, find your center, and become independent I can see you going very far. I look forward to seeing your future posts.

If you're a long time stimulant/cocaine abuser, you shouldn't be expecting the same set of effects from coke that a first-time user would... namely, if you've been doing the stuff for years it will lose some of its shine.

Anyways - this was a thread from 2011? So unless anyone else has anything useful to add, it's gonna be closed.
