I got a couple of yale ones but they're easily broken into so would like something a bit more secure, any recommendations?

I think the location of where you house it is more important. A cheaper model bolted to a garage floor is better than a pricey one that can be removed. normally robberies are based on time, quicker in and out the better. Not a lot of crooks go armed with safe 'cracking' tools and wold rather steal the full thing to work on later.

Check some of the gun clubs sites for names etc

I agree with bear, it's just as much about the way you fix it down as the safe itself, although starts to become less relevant with proper safes as they tend to push beyond 250kg.

There is an approach that says if you have a safe then it's basically stating you have something of value where as if you just concealed the stuff well. You can get a 'double socket safe' that looks just like a mains socket for £10

Ninja mind trick though ? -He has a safe, lets spend all of or time stealing that. You leave the safe empty and hide your money in the microwave.

Hahahaha ace idea, that!

I agree with the agree. My parent had to have a safe in the old business n it was nailed down to the ground in a well- hidden spot. Don't put it in a place that screams "I've got something to rob come n rob me!"

Where I come from you start by looking in the microwave :sus:

In truth though 'domestic' safes are shite, any one with a hammer and an electric drill could be in one in minutes, even the low end UL291 Level one safes have a break in time of less than 5 minutes, they're only designed to slow people down.

I tried to find a "Reach for the lasers; safe as fuck" meme but failed. So.. yeah, carry on. :(

Best I could do at short notice

Hah, thanks!

Also.. in terms of keeping goodies in a safe, what happens if law enforcement want access to a safe but you refuse?

Well, one assumes that if they are in a position to be asking that question, they have a warrant to search your premises, in which case they will break into it. It will obviously do you no favours to be denying such requests.

If they don't have a warrant, they can only look at things in plain sight if you have invited them into your home.

As above thet are a piece of piss to get into, unless you've spent a great deal of money, if they have a warrant they can break your door down so....

I found a code of practice in relation to the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984...

1.4 In all cases, police should therefore:
• exercise their powers courteously and with respect for persons and property
• only use reasonable force when this is considered necessary and proportionate
to the circumstances

I would assume that breaking into a safe would not contravene these codes of conduct however they wish to go about it.

Ah yeah, is what I thought. (Not worth it for me as I rarely have much in the house, but was wondering.)

If they have the powers to search your box then i'd be certain they can have a look in your safe;)
