Can strong alcohol actually damage the throat? For example, there is a burn when taking a shot of 151 proof, but does this burn actually signify damage? Anyone ever had a sore throat the day after?

of course it burns tissue-ethyl is motor fuel as well as the most widely used intoxicant .
the tissue damage is why drinks are mixed with other fluids.

I worded it wrong. Yeah, it causes damage, but in the short-term, has anybody ever experience a sore throat the day after from taking high proof shots?

I find tobacco to cause a sore throat the next day esp if I've been at it heavy, as for Strong alcohol burning your throat, just use a mixer in your booze

Funny I now remember a friend of mine had this problem a couple years ago. It stuck out in my mind because we were on acid and he kept talking about how he had taken shots of 151 a few days before and it had messed up his throat.

So the answer is yes it happens, but it also went away a couple days later.

I have had a soar throat the day after drinking hard liquor, but also smoked a lot of cigarettes while drunk so don't know what caused what.

yeah but atleast ur kiling 99.9% of germs!

and yes a night of liquir and smoking maybe some screaming involved...garenteed lost voice next morning

i think its the cigs though

if it is happening to u maybe its because ur young, u gotta get used to everything...i dont remember that with alc but with weed my lungs hurt for 2 weeks

from what i hear any amount of alcohol will cause some bleeding in the esophagus, one of the reasons for it increases risk of esophageal cancer.
