Alcohol Can alcohol be classed as a dissociative/escapism based drug?

Ugh, Smirnoff is some nasty shit IMO.

Not much different than others.

Its all poison.

I drink about 150ml of ethanol per night in various forms, frequently includes vodka. The brand isnt particularly relevant though somewhat.

I dont find alcohol particularly dissociative. I get the visual static from it that i get from dissociatives, and clearly the analgesic properties from very high doses feel NMDA mediated, but never have i experienced profound psychomimetic effects from ethanol even at very high doses (nothing even approaching light n2o psychosis). The truth is, ethanol is more of a GABA-A positive allosteric modulator than it is a NMDA-antagonist but its GABA-A properties probably moderate its NMDA antagonist associated psychomimetic properties while enhancing its anesthetic properties

I wouldn't even count on ethanol being the least harmful of all alcohols of less than 6 carbon atoms and one hydroxyl group. Something like 2-methyl-2-butanol doesn't produce reactive aldehydes as a metabolite, but it's more dangerous if someone incorrectly thinks it should be drank at the same dose level as ethanol.
Same with isopropanol.
