Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new and still getting used to the search feature.

I am going to a camping music fest this summer. Will be taking a drug test kit. Any tips for advice for use in less then ideal conditions? Are there any specific storage needs other then keeping them cool and out of the sun? Sorry if this is a weird question, just never been the one to actually take it for the camp site.

Reagent tests need to be kept "not hot" for long term storage. A rule of thumb for chemical reactions is that they double in speed for every 10*C increase in temperature, it's not like food where they grow bacteria at an exponential rate. For something with a 1 year shelf life, spending a week out of the fridge is not that much of a big deal.

I would say that your biggest concerns should be:

  1. The reagents leak and damage your clothes. Make sure you seal the lids very firmly. If you are using solid reagent tests then leaks aren't an issue, but you need to make sure you don't trap the solid granules in the lid, they break the airtight seal.
  2. The reagents are confiscated because of the glass in the bottles, which some campsites do not allow.
