So I have a group of friend that would like to go tripping. We want to go out into nature and stuff but where we live most accessible nature places are campgrounds. state parks with rangers and stuff. Can anyone offer advice on like what kind of places to look for or how to get around ranger visits and stuff?

I've camped in state parks many times (tripping and not) and have never been even approached by a ranger. Do they generally get in everybody's business where you would be camping? Idk, I've camped in a wide range of places while tripping, mostly just in areas where there is free camping with no problem. Keep in mind though that it will get dark. I generally prefer to start tripping really early in the day and such so that you can run around on trails and such while its light out and you are either completely come down or at the very tail end once its getting dark so you can just chill for a bit around the campfire and still get to sleep.

Yeah most importantly get your bearings for the night time, and have plenty of light on hand. The last thing you want is to be tripping balls, lost in the middle of nowhere, with no light to guide your way out.

^ Second that; I went tripping in woods I know very well, paths memorized etc, but when darkness hit I was completely disoriented and it got ugly fast.

And what's the worst that will happen if park rangers do happen to come by? Just keep calm and answer their questions, as long as you're not cutting down trees, throwing around garbage, and as long as you are maintaining control over your fire they should have no reason to have a conversation with you outside of "Hello, enjoy your camping".

Yeah we would be sure to to bring lights. illusion books haha art supplies warm clothes. We'll be on the Oregon coast I'm really worried about someone freezing or death haha. So we were going to reserve a yurt.
hmm maybe I will suggest we leave early running around in the day will be coolio. We were thinking of trying to drop at like 3/4 so we could watch the sun set as we peak.

i agree with what's been said. as long as you're being respectful of the surroundings, a park ranger isn't gonna give you shit.

set everything up before you dose! obviously your tent, or your bunk in the "yurt." but also, unpack your bags and stuff, know where everything is.
dosing at 3 or 4 sounds good. i like to trip for part of the day and part of the night.

gather lots of wood before you dose.

i went camping once, and we could only stay for one night. so we quickly set up the tent and dosed at like 2 or 3:00. i didn't unpack my bag or anything. after it got dark, and we were struggling to see around a small fire that we were struggling to maintain...i suddenly remembered "I BROUGHT FLASHLIGHTS!" we were in the dark for a few hours before i remembered.

building a fire will be hard. cooking will be hard.

so just get everything set up nice and neat, and THEN dose.

if i'm going for two days, i like to wait to trip til the 2nd day/night.
