California: Fire Season '09

I lived in the Santa Cruz mountains last summer. At one point the fires were a mile away from where I was staying. This year seems milder. Maybe I just haven't been watching the news or anything like that but last year the fires were right on my ass. Its a bummer to see my state in flames but this shit happens every year. People are always worried about fires, thats just how California is. It rains in the winter, it burns in the summer. Are the fires this year as bad as last year? or is it worse down south that it is up north?

Well apparently the Station Fire (the one burning in so cal right now) has burnt an area the size of San Fran, so id say this one is pretty bad.

The fires finally had some effect on me. Stupid Time Warner was out all day on the west side because of them. No cable/internet until about 4pm. Booooo

You poor thing.... people losing their homes and its finally affecting you because it killed your internet for a while? I really feel for you.... :\

The Station Fire in LA is being reported as the biggest fire in california history. Its burned over 100,000 acres.

I want to extend my love to any Californians affected by the current fires. I wish my love was strong enough to put out the fires. Sadly it's probably not.

haha, my internet was out! Life is HARD!

Wow, I sound like a total dick. I absolutely didn't mean to. I thought I was answering a question about how the fires were affecting people on this board personally. I wasn't paying attention.

In all seriousness, I wasn't trying to be an ass. I know that people are going through hell with the fires now, but I'm new out here, so I don't know anyone who is directly affected.

So my apologies people. I'm really not an asshole, and I feel like a schmuck for what I said.

Saw the Station fire area up close and personal today...it's completely armageddon as far as the eye can see...and it's not done burning yet!

I wonder if all the super rich people are sitting in their outdoor screened dining rooms watching the fire over dinner laughing. Or did their hoses burn down roo.
