I crown Bassment Jaxx as the winners of Coachella this year. OH MY FUCKING GOD did they rock it!!??! That shit was off the hook with mad energy and excitement. I am still sore as hell today. Dizzy Rascal came out for a song too, that was hot. Thank god for having them play outside and bringing that funky ass shit.
Kraftwerk was a treat. The curtain dropped to 4 dudes in black suits and red shirts. Standing in front of laptops on stands. The visuals behind them were sweet. The music was dope and for some reason I was the only person in my site that was dancing, but they played some dope songs, kept me interested and I felt like I was watching history, sort of.
The Crystal Method, dope as always, they were very vocal about how much fun they were having.
Beck. Man I was excited to see Beck. My first time. So we wedged our way under the tent during Q and not U to wait for Beck. When Beck came on he played some mellow songs, mostly from Sea Change and some I didn't know. He cracked some jokes about other stage's being loud, etc. He did some ad lib songs about the heat, and fucked with a Game Boy for a second, but it wasn't working right. He played a short set, but damn I loved it. I can't wait to see Beck again. I worship him.
Radiohead was good. I think I could tell that York's voice was a little tired from his infection or whatever, but nonetheless I loved seeing them and hearing lots of songs I liked and loved. I missed Creep which I heard they played, but did hear Karma Police and some others I knew.
Paul Van Dyk was good, I enjoyed his set, good ending to a fabulous time at Coachella.
Q and Not U. These guys are pretty fun and can rock it. They were clearly anti-bush and made that known, but they were also entertaining and have some cool songs.
We managed to catch about 3 songs from The Stills, including Still in Love, which was perfect. They rock.
I don't know the Pixies, but I enjoyed their set. We sat during most of it, but liked it.
The Cure was very very very interesting and sounded so damn good. I think they sound better live than they do on the radio. The emotion of the music comes across more tangible in person. Great set, and a privilege to see.
Adam Freeland was ok, played the Nirvana remix and Rage against the machine.
Peretz, was good, played Tribal Techy tracks and sang some.
Dj Icon, was boring.
