Buying H in NYC for the First Time, a Retrospective

That was a really good read. I really enjoyed the writting style. I'd hate to read this if I were trying to get/stay clean. Comments at the end don't surprise me at all and you can't really do anything to change their views I guess.

Yea brings back a lot of memories. Like someone said above its fun til its not fun. And yea cold coppin is a dice roll for sure. I lucked out the first time and found this one tiny little street where everyone had raw, found a dude got his number and that was that. Doesnt mean ive never had to go out on the strip and get burned bc my dude wasnt around. Its all a game of chance.

Hey man that was a very good read! You should write more not limited to drugs, I thoroughly enjoy your style of writing.

Wow, if this didn't kick up memories. My stomach flipped a bit. My first time cold copping in NYC I had just moved back from California. I was happy the white was better than the brown. Went in with a friend and found a great source right away. The packets had movie names. Spent several years and a 5 year bid playing the game. Then after, about 1998 found poppy tea and that saved me from the karma of needing money and scoring. I think I went from junkie to just plain addict. I think the term junkie (for me) is the whole game playing along with bad karma that comes along with doing anything for a fix. When poppy tea came in I had no bad karma, just had to kick which was worse than heroin. But spending a few years on that I was still able to keep it hidden and stay successful and didn't need to make trips into the city. I also never stole again. So saying that I realized the whole problem (for me) with opiates was the availability. Make it hard and illegal and problems happen. A steady cheap supply without the hustle was a more normal life. I see that with methadone. Daily opiates to keep a person well. I also realized we would never see that with alcohol. There are no clinics to where someone gets a bottle of whiskey before work as with opiates. To me alcohol was on a more sinister level.

Anyway good write up. I see it hit home with a lot of people that knew the life. And while I can not occasionally use heroin, I have known people to chip away.

I went downtown because that's where my friend was staying and I didn't know of any place better to go.

> Just curious, did you have to give your homeless hookup a twenty every time you went through her?

Yes, I gave her a twenty each time.

>Great retrospective. Found the comments at the bottom to be very weird and negative... Did you end up getting "addicted"?

Thank you for your kind words. No, I've never been addicted.
