I'm gay so I didn't vote in your poll; butt I'm not even that into anal sex giving or getting but it can be done safely. i can relate to the energy argument somehow, cause for me- vaginal penetration feels more profound and in-flow. but that may be socially acquired, a self-fulfilling prophecy. or it may really have to do with subtle kundalini energy currents in the body. -there's no way of knowing for sure, but in the end it doesn't matter

Male dominance through sex (with other males) is used by animals. However I don't think that it's such a primal thing.

Anal sex these days (at least around me) is regarded as the ultimate submission. Kind of how virginity was revered back in the day.
