Hey all, I definitely know there's a thread about buprenorphine but I've been reading through them and haven't found a clear-cut answer to my question

I stumbled on some butran paches (buprenorphine transdermal). I know with the fent patches you could just chew them no problem.

But do you have to do any type of extraction with the butran, or can you also just chew on em? I know the oral BA is really low, but I'm still curious...

Thanks guys

sorry about the misspelling of buprenorphine in the title, I guess my mind was on Opana at the time ;)

I'd assume that you could chew them, but I wouldn't if I were you. If you still wish to look into this do an internet search engine search on something like 'chewing butrans patches'. Like I said I wouldn't attempt it if I were you, it would be a waste due to the ceiling effect. Just wear them if you are on bupe maintenance.

Just put it on. The absorbtion rate is really high with the transdermal patches. Are you trying to get high or use them to get clean?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that transdermal BA is somewhere around 50%, if not higher. If this is the case, I would just wear them, because even if you managed to take it sublingually, you'd be absorbing 20% less buprenorphine.

Yeah, I chew my butrans and it will get you HIGH. I know this from experience. Chew them until the beige fibers turn white like cotton. I only chew them after wearing them for 7 days though, but there is still a few mgs in there, since it is 10mcg/hr for 7 days and the patch has a total of 10mg.

Yeah I'm trying to eat them after I've applied them.

I'm actually using them for pain management because of my coccyx. It's a really nice drug, which I was pleasantly surprised about because I have a pretty decent opiate tolerance (like 120 mg of roxis insufflated, 30 mgs of oxymorphone insufflated over 1 to 1.5 hours gets me a nice nod). Partial agonist doin its job
