Butane - New Experience - Inhalants are dangerous. Do not use this chemical.

First off, I've actually been interested in inhalants for a very long time, back in health class so many years ago I heard of it seemed so interesting, yet too afraid of health risks. It was a nagging thought for a while, and for the past month I've read pretty much every report on erowid on inhalant experiences.

Knowing the risks fully, I finally gave in; sprayed a bags worth of butane, waited a little bit. Breathed and exhaled through the bag about 3 times and pull back.

It hit me like a ton of bricks in less than a couple seconds, a pleasant cold tingle fell through my body, fingertips are noticeably tingly and numb. Everything looks exactly the same yet it is so different. Objects are breathing and pulsing.

A loud Wah-wah noise is constantly ringing, feeling euphoric and this is definitely a dissassociative unlike DXM and Ketamine however. I started remembering things that never actually happened, I kept zooming between 1st and 3rd person view.

The most interesting effect in my opinion however, is almost impossible to describe in words like a high dose of a psychedelic or dissassociative . The only thing I can think of is the most extreme case of deja vu ever. Like feeling and remembering the event and how it went, but, not remembering the event itself. Kind of like everything feels so familiar you think you've huffed before and forgot about it but, can remember doing it.
Inhalants are very dangerous drugs and I can't recommend them no matter how uniquely this was from all other hallucinogens.

Always know the risks before you attempt something; stay safe everybody.

Moderator's Note:

Inhaling butane can cause sudden death or permanent brain damage from one use. Inhalants are without doubt the most dangerous recreational chemicals in existence.

This actually sounds very similar to some of my more intense nitrous oxide experiences. It truly is one of the most bizarre feelings I have ever experienced. It doesn't happen every time I do nitrous, but when it does, it's indescribable.

When I enter the déjà vu, it's like being hit with this sudden realization (epiphany like even) that I have been in this very moment before, and in fact, this eternal moment is my true reality. It seems as if my whole life leading up to this moment is just an illusion that I've tricked myself into believing, and I can see that I am in an endless cycle of living this illusory life all the way up to inhaling the nitrous and finally coming to the great realization while knowing I will soon forget this truth, and I will soon start the cycle all over again by returning to that false life (sobriety).

When I come down, I realize this is an insane thought pattern, and can only grasp the feelings I just had in the most fleeting manner. I find this experience more intense than even my 5-MeO-DMT or Salvia trips. The realism of these non nonsensical thoughts is astounding.

be safe and have fun.

It's sad to say but I still love gas. Don't ever do it anymore but so many times as a teenager I had insane breakthrough experiences with butane.

Not worth trying if you haven't, you can feel the damage being done IMO.

Very interesting to read about, even though I would never be a test subject :-).

Well maybe when I'm on my death bed, haha. I'll have to ask the nurse to get me some butane and a paper bag as a last request.

I wouldn't inhale butane. The effects sound a lot like nitrous (as someone mentioned) especially the "wah wah" in the ears and the cold tingle.

When I do nitrous, I usually hold my breath and end up lying back and closing my eyes and going to a good place. The place reminded me of the "heaven" I enter when using opiates and I nod. I love that.

Have you considered that this might in fact be true? :D That maybe the state you reach is very similar to the one after you die and also before you were born, and that's why you remember it with such familiarity? And that that's where you return after each life, only to be born into another one?

Now, I've never did nitrous, so I can't judge the truth of this. But I just wanted to offer a suggestion :)

If you're wanting to have that sort of experience it would really be best to use nitrous oxide... it's used clinically and is relatively safe - that is, it doesn't cause massive and irreversible brain damage. Truly, the dangers of and damage from inhalants, butane being one of the more severe ones, is frightening and not in any way worth it.

Knowing the risks didn't make a bit of difference to the part of yourself you killed. Fuck that shit. :p

I can safely say I'm glad I had the experience even with the real possibility of nerve or organ damage. That being said I'll stick to nitrous as my inhalant of choice.

I have mixed feelings as to whether or not these inhalant threads do more good than harm.

These threads are not glorifications, they're simply documenting the experience. Erowid has the same philosophy. Simply banning inhalant reports would be akin to the detrimental abstinence education that America currently teaches its children. I think these threads are important, because they serve as a reminder of why one should not be doing this. Even if the OP glorifies the usage of the inhalant in his report, there will always be the informed Bluelighters ready to respond and make it clear that there is nothing worthwhile in inhalant use.

To reiterate: as Erowid states, the psychoactive effects of inhalants are inseparable from the organ and brain damage they cause. Butane (and other hydrocarbons as well) is a severe central nervous system toxin far beyond any other recreational drug. First time users have died from single hits due to fatal heart arrhythmia. That's not propaganda; that's the documented truth.

Best way to get a hit is put mouth around nozzle ,bite and push hard.

Bad shit ,i remember someone in school dying from it(froze his insides or something) fucked up big time.

Awesome out of body or dream effect where you snap out of the trip and wondering if that was real or not.

Tripy shit

Does the reality of nerve and organ damage not bother you?

I've heard that instant death can happen with inhalants. :(

I know people who inhaled things like endust, spray paint, and solvents and they're lucky they didn't die and they worry about lung cancer and some have respiratory issues.

Agreed. While I would try almost every drug there is, I'm not sure I'd ever venture into the world of inhalants before. I had a bit of a thing with inhalants when I was younger, didn't even use proper inhalants, just sniffed deodorant thinking that'd do the trick - thankfully not knowing how to huff properly I think I avoided the major damage inhalants can cause, but I was young, stupid, and didn't know a thing about any drugs at the time, not I would stick to real, safe, tested dissociatives such as DXM, Nitrous or Ketamine (Alright, there is some neurotoxicity to them but only when truly abused, whereas with inhalants the risk is there even with the first use).

Glad to hear you're alright after the experience, and thanks for posting the report, given that I never figured out inhalants myself I never got to see what all the fuss was about, so it's interesting reading this.
