Buspirone Blocking Effects of Cocaine?

I took a 7.5mg dose of Buspirone/Buspar earlier today and then again about two hours ago ago. Within the past hour I have insufflated several lines of cocaine that I know to be very high quality based on recent experiences. However, I barely felt anything today from the cocaine. I felt a minor body buzz, but essentially no euphoria, as if the dopamine release had been completely blocked. So could buspirone do this? I haven't taken any other medications today or done anything out of the ordinary. Thanks in advance.

Buspirone acts as a dopamine antagonist which will block any dopamine agonist activity, so yes buspirone can do this and it's most likely why you didn't get anything out of your cocaine.

Yeah, among other things, buspirone functions as a dopamine antagonist.

According to the product monograph:

In vitro preclinical studies have shown that Buspirone has a high affinity for serotonin (5-HT1A) receptors. Buspirone has no significant affinity for benzodiazepine receptors and does not affect GABA binding in vitro or in vivo when tested in preclinical models.

Buspirone has moderate affinity for brain D2-dopamine receptors. Some studies do suggest that Buspirone may have indirect effects on other neurotransmitter systems.
