I was reading about how much bupropion has become popular in prisons and some poor addicts in Canada, and it got me wondering how good of a high this drug could possibly be. I knew how bad the worst consequences were, though, and was wary about trying bupropion because of them. But I was nearly out of my choice drug and decided it'd be best to savor the remaining bit - and I got the idea to try bupropion because I'm too much of a tweaker. I have a lot of leftover bupropion from leftover old prescriptions (I was prescribed several antidepressants throughout my past - bupropion being the least ineffective but also the last I was given), so I took a 150mg pill, and cut the hard shell off with a knife (which was more like 5 minutes of intense sawing until there was a deep enough cut to break pieces of it off with the knife so I could cut the actual drug, and then crushed it up, because I would die of seizures before getting an oral high.
Then I was presented with a decision. Do I plug, insufflate, or take it sublingually? It boiled down to the least worst option in terms of harm, which I came to the conclusion of sublingual because I thought the binders would be too much for insufflating, and I was unsure of the effect of binders and plugging, so I chose to take the dosages sublingually. I ended up taking 3 different doses of about 100mg each. These are my observations:
- Not very stimulating in comparison to real recreational stimulants, but enough of an upgrade over vanilla time wasting to do in this degree.
- I didn't have much of a comedown: probably due to lack of strength but that's a positive I guess.
- I see why trying to abuse this drug can easily lead to danger. If there isn't an acceptance of it being more of a "this is nice I guess" buzz, one could easily seek to do more and go into dangerous dosage waters. While seeking a better high isn't going to be a long term risk by doubling a ritalin dosage from 50mg to 100mg, doubling a bupropion dose from 150mg to 300mg is too often the difference between a slight buzz and a seizure. I didn't even go to 150mg at once, because I was too wary of event that much.
Conclusion:
Caution is advised - keep doses down to favor long-term life over short-term dirty-ish drug use, and the way to make this work is to do something fun while on the drug - because trying to enjoy the high on its own merit won't get one too far.
