Bupropion & Methylphenidate DAT Affinity?

Just wondering if anyone knows if they compete with each other for receptor site binding.

I was Rx'd 10mg of Ritalin IR (BID) a month ago and have also been on Wellbutrin XL 300mg (OD) for several years.

I can't feel/tell/observe a difference in terms of concentration/attention ability, which is why I curious as to if anyone knows.

Are they competing or - another theory - has the Wellbutrin XL down-regulated my DAT after 6 years 8(

I've UTFSE and googled and couldn't find anything on the subject. I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered somewhere and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Hmm that is a rather interesting question. Since wellbutrin is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor it could affect dopamine agonists such as dextroamphetamine but i honestly have no clue off hand in regards to Ritalin. I have never even taken Ritalin but i always found that if i stopped taking wellbutrin 2 days before taking Dexedrine i could get tweaked. I have been on wellbutrin SR 150mg's twice a day for about 5 years i guess on and off for bipolar depression. So far so good

I would suggest posting this over in advanced drug discussion as you would probably get better answers there. If i can dig up anything that could help answer your question I'll pass it along.

Umm not my name but thanks anyway

I have taken cocaine only a day or 2 after taking wellbutrin and i found it to work fine. But yeah Ive never taken Ritalin before so i don't know.

Cocaine is another drug that (over the last 3-4 years) I find isn't nearly as euphoric as it used to be. I've spoken about this in another thread - about how everyone else who was skiing were feeling great; meanwhile I was feeling good but not like I used to. Don't ritalin and blow interact with dopamine in a similar manner? Anyways, I might abruptly stop the Wellbutrin XL for a few days and see if there's any discernible difference. At least the phenethylamines still work fine - molly was always my fav (preferrably with some mda mixed in).

Lol i hardly took offense to the name thing. No probs man typing while nodding out isn't exactly easy

I think cocaine acts much the same way on dopamine as both Ritalin and wellbutrin do. I think they all do dopamine reuptake and Ritalin like bupropion does do dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition atleast according to a few sources i have looked at.

I had no problem getting high off coke but then again i always shoot it or rock it up since snorting it does fuck all but wreck my nose . I haven't done coke/crack in fucking ages though because it's not worth it to go off not only my wellbutrin but also my seroquel just to get some coke that is going to leave me without a fucking cent a half hour later and just fiending for more
