Buprenorphine Trouble & Questions+

This is the first time I have had to take a medication sublingually. Im having lots of trouble! I put the tablet under my tongue & let the tablet melt under my tongue. I hold my tongue down tightly on the tablet, but I cant help my mouth watering profusely.

I dont know if I even absorbed the tablet. Can anyone provide some insight, suggestions, or possibly a link to guide to taking medication sublingually effectively?

Man, unless that tablet somehow comes back out of your mouth, I don't think you have much to worry about. . .

just think about it, did the tablet dissapear after all was said and done?

Yes, the tablet dissolves/disapears in about a minute or two. Im still left with a nasty taste and buprenorphine flavored drool in my mouth. Should I swallow this or just hold it in my mouth until it dissapears?

I just think I dont think its absorbing since Im always left with red drool in my mouth.
 
don't worry about losing the medicine...also, it is important to let it melt and not try and "aggravate" the suboxone with your tongue--let it melt its way completely (I know, it is completely annoying to have it just sitting there, especially at doses of 3 X 8mg subs--eccck)....

try talking to coworkers while one of those big ole 8s is melting under your tongue...hehehehe

try to resist the urge to swallow as much as possible. Even if its not absorbed subligualy it still gets absorbed through other cells in the mouth. So keep the saliva in your mouth until u can hold it any longer.

Some does still get absorbed in the stomach though not as much, so dont worry too much. If fact i would only worry if it isnt holding you.
 
In a opiate tolerant user, would taking an 8mg suboxone sublingually thrush the user into withdrawl? Hilarious swyps=D
 
I thought it was the Narcan that caused the withdrawl? I know the narcan is not absorbed sublingually. I took 60mg codeine yesterday around noon.
 
Thanks for all the info everything went fine. I took the tablet 8mg suboxone sublingually. Put it under my tongue and laid the f*ck down on my bed for about 8 to 10 minutes.


I swallowed about 3 or 4 times but no drool just a natural reaction kind of thing, an odd urge to just swallow. The tablet melted completely after about 10 minutes and I had a mouthful of orange/red drool after about the 5 minute mark.

About 95% of the tablet dissapeared. At first, I felt slight nausea, anxiety, and fear/panic. As I have never taken buprenorphine before. I also was aware I may go into Codeine/Tramadol withdrawl at any moment from the narcan or buprenorphine. I decided to try to let lose and just go for a drive on my honda motorcycle.

Since I have felt an increase in talkativeness (is that a word?) and I feel a slight euphoria. I cant describe it as euphoria (maybe because of my opioid tolerance) but I can describe it as a positive, good mood kind of feeling. I will keep you updated.

I just wanted to post my experience with the drug and some details since there isnt many such details and reports. Just a lot of information about the drug on BL.

I just wanted to add some information so when its looked up on bluelight this thread will show up. Always nice to read someone's experience with a drug directly. Especially when erowid has zero reports.

Im not a pharmacy technician, nor a nurse quite yet. However, Iam currently enrolled at a community college in hopes of becoming at least an LPN. Im in my second year of enrollment and doing quite well.

I do indeed help run an online store but only as a customer support rep and lead webmaster. (feel free to edit this out, wanted to give my background so others know what is true and false about myself)

Try holding the saliva in your mouth as long as you can. As long as you dont swallow you're absorbing all the bupe.. it's annoying as hell, but try keeping it in there for 15 minutes at least..

The bupe has never forced me into withdrawl... and I've taken it many times before.
 
Thanks for giving me a little bit clearer suggested time limit. Next time, I will keep the buph under my tongue for 5 minutes longer to make it 15 minutes. As long as it completely disappears than it got absorbed, no?

I agree, no withdrawal for me either. It has been about 2 hours now, feeling quite nice. To me this is a great means of beating the mental & physical cravings of my opiate addiction.

I dont know how buprenorphine would affect others so dont use it directly upon my experience. Research further please before using any substance to beat drug addiction.
 
each 8 mg tablet of suboxone contains 2mg narcan, not nearly enough for fullblown WDs, unless you are up to a heavy habit and take 2-3 8mg (16-24 mg subuxone = 4-6 mg narcan) or unless you are an IV user. Also, I dont find suboxone recreational, except for the first day (or without any habit) and I have taken 32 mgs at a time...I recommend not exceeding 24 mgs because I feel the effects plataeu

this is my home-brewed recipe for beating a semi-heavy opiate habit (100+ OC or equiv daily oral or intranasal):

wait until WDs kick in
-1 8 mg
-that night, another 8mg

next day, 2 8mg break into 4s, take 1/4 (2mg) morning, 1/4 noon, and 1 and 1 half (12 mg) at night (cocaine, if you find that you don't get yourself addicted) administered through night, xanax 2-4mg to sleep

next day
8 mg, spread through day, used when WDs kick in (suboxone has a long half-life--you would be surprised how little you need and how long these guys work)

next day, 8 mg (same as previous day)

next day, 4 mg each day(and the next 4 days, finishing the program with a total of 72 mg of suboxone [this stuff can be hard to find or expensive, but well worth it] try not to build a tolerance, as sustained use can lead to WDs when stopping use of these, though nowhere near [from what I heard, since I never got to the point that I took them longer than 7 days] as bad as other drugs)

any anti-anxiety agents should be used sparingly during the course of this program, since anxiety will still be present

also, cocaine seems to work kinda well beating the mental "cravings"--but again, i would not recommend this for everyone.

And, btw, you get to enjoy and crave that orange taste...in fact, I wish more pills were flavored.

what you can expect: if you are a semi heavy user (100+mg OC or equiv. daily) , the first day or two, you will have some symptoms of WDs, though VERY minor, all things considered. Subuxones are a godsend.


Oh, one more thing--sub's never helped me quit, considering I am a continuing junkie; they simply alleviate the WDs until I can score again--damn holiday weekends and overusing my stash--goddamned! This week isn't going to be too much fun...

He's not a semi-heavy user, he's been using tramadol ~400mg/day for a year or two. 8mg of bupe is total overkill. I suggest 2mg at most, once daily, though to be honest I don't see how you need more than 1mg. The amount you're taking is way more than 400mg of tramadol so if you keep this up you'll have an addiction to buprenorhine which may have even worse withdrawals than the tramadol, depending on dosage and how long you take it... if you wanna be opiate clean youre doing the worst thing possible. if you wanna be tramadol clean, well thats pretty damn easy to accomplish when you have bupe or any other opiates. if you wanna continue taking opiates and prolong/worsen your addiction then youre doing great!

Not to mention the fact that this has already been discussed. Maybe you can start using the search engine now?

just a question a little off topic --> i've been off H since august 03 -- came off with bupe.. now just recently i found a few stray tablets and have been having only about .25mg / day (which on no tolerence is quite nice!! yay) - what my question is, is will taking this small dose for a week or two give me any w/d's. i'm not expecting that it will as i had a clean slate before and its such a tiny amount - but any feedback / experiences would be appreciated -- oh and in relation to Grunenthal's question - when on a higher dose i used to try to leave it in my mouth for up to 20mins - and yes i would have terribly huge amts of saliva gushing around too! - but would try to leave it all in there until i couldn't taste any further bitterness. small doses only need about 5mins IMO. CHEERS!!
