Ok I have been wondering this ever since I found my Sub doctor. I figured out one easy way to knock off the naloxone, with dissolving crushed pill/film into ice cold water and iso alcohol (small amounts!, cold water to get rid of binders and naloxone), filter, evaporate alcohol, filter again with warm water (buprenorphine is soluble in warmer water than nalaxone) and there you have buprenorphine. I read this somewhere here or opiophile and was wondering ...
and asking 1.) Does the reaction go from Thebaine -> Norbuprenorphine -> Buperenorphine -> Norbuprenorphine upon metobolism
or
Thebaine -> Buperenorphine -> Norbuprenorphine upon metobolism
And Either way Do any of you have any ideas on getting it back to Thebaine?

Im wondering if Methyl achohol could be a step somewhere...im starting to give up, knowing thebaine is an alkaloid, but maybe could get to orapavine or etorphine...(!?)

Surely, I could get it and isolate thebaine from the poppy, but Ive dropped about 200 seeds since spring and here in the deep south they started dying when it got too hot! Not giving up on them though, going to keep trying and see if i can get something by next year.

back to the subject: The chemical buprenorphine looks so damn complicated, and getting back to thebaine could give us etorphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, and more.
if I could turn it back, Hell I'd like to make it to where it doesnt bind to the recpetors so strong! AFIK to synthesize thebaine it starts at the poppy -> morphine -> codeine -> oripavine -> thebaine.

this is the souce: http://www.poppies.org/news/99502095862987.shtml

well, Ill be working on this. any help would be greatly appreciated! The knowledge is out there!

No, it's basically impossible to convert bupe back to thebaine. Thebaine is useless as an opioid anyway unless you have a lab to convert it to the more interesting opiates. You're not going to convert buprenorphine into anything useful unless you have more money than brains.

Thebaine is not metabolized to any active opiates. Sorry but the guys on opiophile have led you astray.
It's fastest to just grow poppies, and care for them properly.

^ good response.

Also we don't allow any synthesis discussion. Please have a look at the guidelines link in my signature and PM if you have any questions :)
