how is it that we know that a quarter of a sub contains 2mg's of bupe?
like how do we know that the bupe is evenly distributed throughout the pill or film? couldnt it be possible to get 3mgs one quarter and 1 the next? i know that a quarter usually always feels the same to me but i am curious cause i am not sayin it would be mg differences but there has to be some difference from quarter to quarter correct?

Because they very carefully take a given amount of buprenorphine (2% of the total weight of 8mg Suboxone tablets), and a given amount of inactive ingredients, and create a homogenized concentration.

Whatever differences there are would be too small to notice. Aside from few pharmaceutical errors, most tablets/pills are produced exceedingly identical in content.

This is a question you can ask your pharmacist and they should have more information to tell you. However, I think the best way to explain it is that these things are thoroughly tested and examined before the product gets to you. It is critical for health care providers to be sure of the dosage of medication they are prescribing their patient.

yeah critical to for most meds to know what exactly is in the whole pill but as far as i know for the most part sub is about the only drug that you might be given half doses and shit but i was just curious to that as we always say a quarter is 2mgs but how did we know for sure

As Captain.Heroin said; the pills are incredibly homogenized during production; the drug is incredibly evenly distributed. That said; it seems your question is actually one of degree. Nothing is exact, and in that regard you cannot "know" that quarter sub contains exactly 2mg of buprenorphine. However, if you're familiar with the concept of significant digits in practical science or mathematics, then you will know that any final measurement can only be as precise as it's most imprecise component. So, the possibility of minor variations in drug concentration throughout the medium of the pill is grossly overshadowed by the human inability to cut the pill exactly into precise quarters. In other words, you could just as easily ask "How do I KNOW that I cut this pill exactly into a quarter?" Bupe is a powerful drug; if you're close to 2mg, you'll get the expected effect.

no doubt about that i know that it doesnt effect much just was curious i am pretty sure tho that with like fent gel you never know howmuch you are getting because it is not evenly distributed and wondered the same about sub strips and pills and with the strips you can be pretty damn accurate

When pills are made, the drugs and the inactive fillers are blended together VERY well, so that they are homogenized, and said above. I would be willing to be that a perfectly cut quarter of a Suboxone film has 2mgs of buprenorphine it in, giver or take .0001 mgs. The thing that I wonder about is the Roxane brand generic Subutex. I usually get the Teva brand, because I swear they are much stronger than the Roxane brand. This month Teva was back-ordered (probably because more people are realizing that Roxane's is inferior) and I had to settle for the round Roxane brand. Now, generic drugs are required by law and supposed to have the exact same amount of the same active ingredients as they're name brand counterparts do. However, after being on Subutex for years, I would bet that the Roxane pills have less buprenorphine in them, my guess (according to how they feel when I take them) is a couple mgs less! That's quite a bit! Sorry, I got off topic, my point is, I'm sure that the drug is spread evenly across the pill, and the only possible anomaly with pills is different brands containing different amounts of total drug.

I can almost say for sure that that is false there is no way possible they are short a couple mg and I know this because I have some of them and have been doin an 8th of a pill each day and would def notice that much of a difference

There is no definite way to tell the same amount is spread throughout the pill unless you crush it all and dissolve in solution. If you break up your Subs regularly, you will notice that there are two layers of powder swirled together throughout the pill: one is dark orange, the other is light orange to white. The light orange layer is most likely the orange filler combined with white active compounds. The dispersion throughout the pill is not required to be consistent as the pill is not meant to be split to smaller pieces (you'd see scores on the pill for splitting if it was), so one piece of the pill is not guaranteed to be the same dose as another. In practice, the dose concentration definitely varies throughout the pill; exactly how much depends on the individual pill.

If you take 2mg per day, the difference in dose is not as every four doses will still work out to give 8mg (consider the long half-life). When I broke the pills up into 20 pieces or so, the difference was much more noticeable however.

^ thats a good point and to be honest i didnt even think about that....this is because i have the white canadian stop signs.......no swirl here....

i wonder how much of a real difference there is.....
