im now on methadone( 120mg )from a long opiate habit that started with oxy and codeine that ended pretty heavy

but nowhere will script straight bupe , jst `done or the one with naloxone or whatever it is , and iv been told by people ( who arent really in the "know" of the drug scene, that straight buprenophine is or will be banned in australia , iv had the one wuth naloxone in it b4 and got real sick , rashes, cold sweats , feeling of total detachment from the outside world) in/out of consciousness for around 1.5 hrs
im nt askin for a clinic name or anythn, but is it stil possible to stil get it , coz i stil hear of it goin around

also iv been told that suboxone is better than methadone by alot of people , but been told the opposite by alot also . what are ur thoughts??

and what do u umm "look for" in a opiate maintenence drug, vesides no w/d , or is that it ?? i know thats the point for people who want to be 100% drug free

When I was going to the clinic I thought the bes thing was straight bupe (subutex) because:

- less WD than Done cause it last longer into the next day

- could function better and hold a normal job down - not nodding off in the middle of day as much

- also I was on low dose so I could spit it out and wait until I was hangin and then have the odd shot without any problems.

This last thing (spitting it out) got me kicked off and back on to methdone and then when the new bupe with naloxone in it came out they put me on that.

This was back in 2006 so they might have just decided that they should just give everyone the bupe with naloxone in it (suboxone) now ??

I feel bad then as I found suboxone to not give me the nice high the straight bupe did. But then again this was for all the wrong reasons as I was just looking for a way to be high everyday and ultimatley that will cause problems in the end.

Hope this sheds some light Leigh12

cheers mate

so what psychoactive effect does it have or not have with the naloxone added

im strongly considering changing over coz the side effects of the methadone
are pissin me off , sweatin like a beaver, paranoid , no opioid effects, tho im on 6ish mg xanax a day wich the doc said masks the methadones efeects a tad

hey leigh12,

yeh I think the fact you wanna get of methadone is awesome, you will notice your living half the life of what you could be once you change to suboxone.

I had extremley bad side effects from being on 70mg of methadone for a few years and once I changed to bupe it was fuckin heaven.

Some people still prefer methadone but I guess that is becuase they really want to nod off all day.

When I changed to suboxone (shit with the naloxone) i had those really bad effects you were talking about earlier such as sickness, rashes cold sweats etc.. but basically and I blamed it on precipitated WD and that there was just too much methadone in my system and the nalaxone was screwing me.

I won't lie it was absolute hell for a good week when I changed over (almost as bad as H WD) but it got a bit better everyday and then after about a month it started to work the same as normal bupe.

Now your on 120mg so I think your going to have to do some serious tapering before you can change and I would get as low on the methadone as possible then wait until your comfortable on that and then change.

You might have to go into detox during the change as the first few days are pretty horrific, but you will get there in the end.

I would consult your methadone prescribing doctor and tell him about the pain you have heard of when changing and see if he can give advice on the best way to switch over.

Its going to be long and hard but you will make it in the end and reap the rewards of a less sedated state of mind, and lose those terrible methadone side effects.

Godspeed Brother

lol im glad thats not the case with me otherwise id like it too much , i dont get any sedation from it . i just wana feel normal and have a positive outlook, not get "fucked up"

They add the naloxone so you can't get IV it and get off. When you tried it before, was it when you had your habit? That would probably be why the naloxone affected you like that. If you go on bupe therapy, the naloxone won't make a difference unless you try and abuse the buprenorphine.

I haven't heard about straight buprenorphine (Subutex) being banned in Australia; I doubt that will happen. It has definitely fallen out of favor with a lot of opioid maintenance prescribers though, and a lot of pharmacies that do the program will often only carry Suboxone and not Subutex.
