Bunk Opium that appears real...never encountered this.

My friend pulled a little saran wrap out of his strong-box and showed to me what, in every way shape and form, resembled good opium: A little, stickey, floral, rabbit-turd. He explained to me that some shadey guy tried to sell it to him, but, wise as my friend is, he dismissed it as fake right away. At this point, the shadey guy confirmed his suspicions by telling him he could have it for free.
It looked like the shit to me, so I asked to smoke what amounted to about a 1/10th of a gram. The smoke was a little off from what I'm accustomed to, but the main characteristics were there, sort of a friuty taste that was easy on my lungs. No effects were noted, aside from a slight headache I got from smoking god knows what.
So my questions is: what was that crap, and is there anyway to spot it, outside of a little test toke?

That sounds like the soapium stuff you can buy out of magazines and at random headshops and such. I'm not postive that is was though,but its good that your friend isn't dumb. To answer your question, there really is no way to be sure except for growing it yourself, and that is your best bet as your not likely to encounter anything real on the street.

Look, I will make this simple ..
You take a huge hit of suspect opium - does it produce "high" type effects? Do you get any "buzz"? Ok, take another hit, bigger then the previous? Still no "sensation"? It's fake. End of story..
