my best friend has never smoked before, but seems up for it if we make pot brownies or any space-baked good. now the weed we will be using is some of the best around. I'm considering granddaddy purple or og kush or some other indica/kush, since first-times with sativas cause minor "freakouts" for some people.

I also can't decide how much pot to use. I'll probably just make one tray of brownies or cookies or w/e. I was thinking, since she has zero tolerance/experience and this is really powerful marijuana, I'd use like 2.5 grams for the tray. I figure if I cut the pan into like 9-12 cookies or brownie squares (~0.2g per brownie), she could eat one to start maybe. Also, how long should we wait before re-dosing if the effects don't kick in?

do NOT give this girl the brownies you plan to make.
they will absolutely floor her if you cook them right.
this isnt necessarily a good thing :/

if you want to ease her into ganja and she has no tolerance,
id definitely smoke her out first.
but if she insists, fuck it, put 5 grams in the brownies.

~~i am triippehn and take no responsibility for the above post

Two things you might want to note:

I've browned (not forcably of course) three weed virgins. For one of them, it took a full 4 hours before he started tripping out hard. Second one was so floored he could barely keep himself from rolling on the floor and smashing shit around him. Last one tried to throw up for 3 hours, then passed out at the toliet.

These brownies contained about 2g or 3g of cheapo mids. They were potent enough to allow for halos and trails/tracers for me personally, and I smoke a lot, everyday.

I wouldn't suggest eating weed for a first time experience... it will likely be very very uncomfortable for them unless they turn out to be a natural psychonaught. Imagine the paranoia of your first smoke, then imagine it was from edibles. I know I likely would have been unpleasantly floored and it would have left an unpleasant feeling towards edibles.

Edit: I would never use high-grade bud for edibles, IMO a huge, huge waste... Buy a 50 bag of the cheapest shit around, hopefully that can get you close to 16 grams, so you can have a bit over 1 gram in each brownie. 0.2g is very little, I would much rather smoke that amount. Redose time should be approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. I've seen several freakouts due to impatience.

OP: listen to Sega and Chainer3k, they know what they're talking about....

No answers, only a comment:

Man, you guys are gonna have some fuuuuuuuuuuuuun with those low-to-no tolerances, especially if you go with the "Fuck it, let's use 5g"-idea. %)

She wants to ease her way into it using edibles, though, dude. Ruling out smoking, don't you think 0.2g/brownie would be a decent way to gradually get used to the effects of eating pot when she's never even TRIED it in the first place? If anything, she could eat two brownies and still feel some effects due to her having no tolerance.

The only trip-up is the rumor/myth/legend that some people don't get high the first time they ingest marijuana. It wasn't true for me, but other people swear by it and it would be a shame to waste a few grams of high grade because your friend was "one of those guys."

...ehhh, I've got benzo's in me and am talking way too much. :|

[Edit: I had only read and responded to your edit, so I took it in a completely wrong context, I think... Oh well, I still think what I said all holds true.]

Oral pot is for some reason much much stronger than smoked. Be very careful. I would try and change her mind about eating brownies first. Tell her that its much better for her to get acquainted with smoking first. I would really suggest not giving her brownies. If she doesn't wanna smoke, then I would just pass on getting her high until she is ready to smoke. It's really not a good idea to give brownies to a first time pot smoker. Please don't do it. Or if you do give it to her, give her tiny amount or put very little in each brownie and wait at least 30-60 minutes until the brownie kicks in before she has more. This can end up badly and can turn her away from weed for the rest of her life. I was an experiences smoker when I first ate a brownie and it floored me. I was so fucked up for hours. wasn't a pleasurable experience to say the least. I can't imagine a noob feeling this way for their first time on weed. I can see how they would easily decide not to ever go anywhere near weed again.

I know you are trying to ease her into smoking, but you might cause her to hate weed for the rest of her life.

excellently articulated. please follow this advice OP.

Do you guys really think ~0.2g/brownie would be too much for a weed virgin?

(Not trying to argue like a dick or anything, I just don't think the effects of that low of an oral dosage would be overwhelming at all.)

Can she smoke or vaporize herb or is she unable to?

If she can only eat herb give her a very very small dose of herb in a cookie or brownie or maybe make the brownies not as strong and give her only half or a quarter of one at first?

I have a friend that had smoked some herb before but only a handful of times and this guy we both knew gave her a brownie on New Year's eve and didn't tell her that there was herb in it and she had a horrible time but didn't pass out or anything she just got lots of anxiety and felt very lethargic.

so what if I just give her a bite or two of the 0.2g brownies, even tho it's dank weed? I think she's scared of the act of smoking - never touched cigarettes or any drugs before (big drinker tho)

I think you should explain the situation to her... oral marijuana is very potent and not something most new-users would understand, much less enjoy. She would most likely have a horrible time; I've seen it happen, and another poster also witnessed the traumatic experience of a naive user being overwhelmed. If I had a friend that would only try edibles, I'd pass up the opportunity quite truthfully.

alcohol IS IN FACT a drug, and a horribly destructive, extremely unhealthy one.
for the mind and the body.
your friend sounds like a bit of a fanny (idiot) to me to be honest.

I'm amazed they didn't taste the weed in the brownie, most brownies I've had were pretty strong tasting.

@Sega: ^You sound like an idiot to me.

Edibles are extremely strong.. especially with good weed.
Like the others have said.. pass on the brownies or give her a very small amount.
And don't forget that it takes a LONG time to hit some people (about 2 hours to hit me and I'm wayyyy too high).

I dont think ive ever made brownies or cookies that werent too strong, and i was smoking all day everyday. I think you should try to convince them to smoke first, because its easier to control the dose and doesnt last nearly as long. If thats not gonna work start real low with the edibles and give it plenty of time to kick in. Like maybe try a dose, and if its too small try again the next day even. Better safe than tripping out and thinking its a normal weed experience.

No, personally I don't... but I do know that cooking an entire batch of brownies via oil method (simpliest for cooking noobs) with only 3 grams would be a waste of 3 grams. I especially wouldn't want to cook with high grade, the yeild is almost the same, taste is the largest factor.... and the fact that I would smoke a little first to get used to the psychadelic feeling of weed. Almost all freakouts are due to unexpected bullshit, and getting way, way to high and uncomfortable is usually that bullshit for weed virgins.

If it must be by eating, trying to get .2~ would be the best way, but I doubt you can get that accurate and you probably will lose a good amount of THC if it's your first time. I'd stick with smoking for now, saving the cooking for the cheap shit.
