Bupe Brixadi or Sublocade?

Afternoon fellas… I’ve started slipping back into short-acting opiates and know where it leads. I’ve tried abstinence, Suboxone, ibogaine, etc. This time, my coach suggested trying a Sublocade or Brixadi shot, even though I have low or no current tolerance.

I do well on Adderall but often the crash leads to using benzos. He thinks buprenorphine could help cover a lot of the symptoms I’m managing with multiple meds.

Main question:

Can I try one of these shots (Sublocade/Brixadi) without becoming fully dependent on buprenorphine again? Or would that just lock me into needing ongoing treatment?

Appreciate any advice or experiences.

They're not going to give you Sublocade without being on 8+ mg of Suboxone. You're asking for a massive, month-long shot. You'll be fucked for ages with no tolerance.

Well, I recently just got off 300 mg of oxy with a six day long Suboxone taper and now I’m at zero but my cravings are insane and I’m thinking maybe I should do a shot. Otherwise, I think I’ll probably relapse. I don’t know what to do. I’m having to take a lot more benzos too just to keep myself from freaking out.

Yup that is my problem I would like to do sublocade but it would set my tolerance way backwards. Can't they inject less? lol

I spoke to a doctor that said he could “try giving me a quarter of a shot of either but he’s never done it before” i also got butrans patches but there too weak to cover my 2mg buprenorphine. Man its such a trap and so hard to taper the bupe

If you get the shot with no tolerance you'll be sick as a dog, that classic too much sub feeling, its miserable... but taking one shot won't lock you in to having to continue treatment. People are actually using the brixadi and sublocade shots to quit sub altogether. Some only taking one monthly shot after switching from the films or tablets... personally, I'm on the weekly brixadi shot, which I find effective. (I cant pass my piss tests due to my other drug use, therefore I have to go weekly) one time i missed my appointment and just said fuggit, I'm gonna just quit going.. 3 weeks had passed since I was due for my last shot (4weeks total) and I just barely started to notice withdrawal symptoms, but NOTHING like full blown withdrawal. In fact, the symptoms were so mild one might mistake them for just feeling a bit shitty.. in my case, I was only aware of the withdrawal symptoms due to the classic hot flash shit, but like I said it was really mild. No restless legs, no body aches... just constant yawning and periodic, mild hotflashes... I inevitably relapsed on street opiates (heroin, fentanyl, and even 7oh) so I returned to my doctor for my shot... when I got the shot that time I could actually noticeably feel it, and I felt super good. Lifted mood, warm fuzzy feeling.. that faded after the first day and I haven't felt anything since. Just normal.

Damn you are lucky to have a doctor like that! I asked the nurses at my clinic if they would do that and they said no. I was expecting that answer but no hard in trying right? Anyway the answer was as I guessed, big fat NO! I dont know if theres a specific reason or just they havent done it and they arent doctors. Its a shame.

Go to the gym regularly, eat well, hydrate, sleep, take fish oil, use creatine daily, and have a multivitamin with food. If you got off 300mg of Oxy (hopefully real) in a week using subs then you are strong willed and that’s good. You need to exercise and nourish your body so that you can reset your neurochemistry while strengthening your body as well. I used to have a gram/day IV Heroin habit, and I will tell you that it often does take a few months to feel back at baseline without experiencing any cravings, and I’ve jumped on/off the bandwagon numerous times (willingly). Godspeed

Same position.

If I asked id get shitcanned but the full shot would be a "Setback"

My question is IF the shot works and I get off with LESS w/d's than tapering pills --- DOES IT MATTER. (Cant think of a way it would unless you got a tight timeframe?)

You still get suboxone pills instead of the strips? I’ve never taken the Sub shot, but I had a friend who did. I don’t see the need for it at all if you are disciplined and understand how to cut the strips into even pieces in order to taper effectively in the shortest amount of time possible rather than stay on Subs for years upon years like some people do. Also, I would never tell my doctor that I am using illegal drugs. I always got my Subs off the street cheaply while using them to come off a gram/day IV heroin habit numerous times in the past, so if I can do it so can you. Look at my recommendation above, because that isn’t bullshit—-it’s the truth!

Yes, my doctor is a fly by night fucker and the day EVERYONE got switched to strips he literally addressed everyone coming in "If you are allergic to the strips in any way, and MOST PPL ARE, just lmk and we will keep you on the pills"

I took that deal.

No you never tell your doctor you use illegal drugs, my real doc woulda never known I was on sub but I went on the damn oregon trail and it took 12 days longer than planned so I had to call my bzo's in out of state. Next time I saw him "So you been on suboxone for almost 2 years now?"

'Well kind of I dont really take much of it --- more something I had to do for court' (NOT A GREAT LINE but I didnt have alot to work with)

ps -- same again -- I was on suboxone as it was the cheapest opi to get by on.......than a couple of junkies snitched on me and said they pipe was mine so I had "Court mandated rehab" -- which I went to a fly by night sub clinic and got a note it was rehab......many many hours away from the town I got a "Constructive poss of MJ paraphanelia" (Fckin really im embarassed for everyone including myself!) --- Wasnt the driver, wasnt even really my pipe but I had to eat the guilty.

I'm on sublocade and I've been on it for the past year. I had insurance issues a few months back and went two months without getting it and I had zero withdrawals
Why not just jump at that point and find where it takes you? Or do you just not feel ready to commit? Two months is crazy to have 0 w/d

Look at that mess you're in. You should go through the withdrawal of it and find some purpose.

Yes indeed, I’m with everyone else here that genuinely wants to see you succeed at getting off this stuff while finding some purpose in life that will drive your passions (productively) rather than feeling like you’re in a cage behind opioid bars. You can do this OP! Just stick through it and like I mentioned exercise is a great avenue to heal your body and mind. If you need any help with a workout program and/or diet feel free to hmu in the PM’s. Godspeed
