You tell yourself they feed you life,
though they're just parasites
drawing away your precious vitality through
the dependence they trained you for,
the weakness they bred into you,
the distorted mirror they left you with,
yet you love them just the same.

So I could never embrace you, I'm afraid to say,
for you refuse to embrace yourself,
devoted to your incremental murderers.

To love you would be to kill me,
so I'm building up a wall
brick my brick of feeble excuses.

If only you could learn to love yourself.
