Breastfeeding and magic mushrooms

Sometimes I'm really ashamed by this site. A lot of great advice, but some complete selfishness and irresponsibility too.

two threads running in tandem here, so ill speak as a scientist and then as a spiritist, though both avenues may arrive at the same destination.

in short - better safe than sorry!

scientifically speaking, what busty said is most certainly true. you could almost guarantee that some of the metabolites from the mushrooms would be found throughout your system. would they have an effect on your son's growth or development? doubtful anyone could say for certain, but again, theres a sound reason why such studies havent ever been performed. i dont believe the psychoactive agents would pose a problem - its more likely the various alkaloids and other inert compounds within the mushrooms that you wouldnt want to be passing on. the human body doesnt exactly "receive" the wide assortment of chemicals found in raw, psychedelic mushrooms well (again, not talking about psilocybin/psilocin), so i sort of have an instinct that tells me an infant's body would become quite alarmed by their presence.

however, humans have been consuming psychedelic mushrooms for as long as humans have existed. i refuse to accept this thread or its original posting as a "moral" argument, and strongly condemn anyone who would claim your desire is "immature." we live in a world where we force willful ignorance to our bond between ourselves and the world of plants upon people, and live in one of the most barbaric ages of cognitive dissonance as a result. im sure millions of human children have consumed psychedelic mushrooms throughout time (though dont interpret this as an "ok" to do so yourself, again, refer to mr busty's post). the same goes for cannabis, or other gifts from the cosmos that link our psyches to the world we refute with our immediate senses. were taught to have this illogical, schizophreic split between ourselves and the chemicals we bathe ourselves in throughout every moment of our lives, as well as the energies and vibrations produced by all living things. its a most irrational idea to believe that "drugs" are an unnatural aspect of the human diet, at least those consumed without any transmutation, directly from plants that have existed long before the Homo genus. the opposite is quite true, we need to consume these chemicals for our survival en masse, for the species as a whole to properly coexist and harmonize with the natural world. none of this implies "now" is as good a time as any to consume psychedelic mushrooms. it does imply that most Western people are rather insane, and put their faith into corporate myth at such a profoundly pervasive rate as to make one wonder what "science" truly means - and attaching such labels as arguments of morality and maturity to consumption of one of the most intimate spiritual vehicles for receiving the wisdom of the cosmos is merely evidence of such insanity. i think you should rest well enough assured that now is one of the least efficient times to engage in such a voyage, and know that the purpose of the cosmos is to create life - therefore - preservation of the life youve just created takes priority over all other activities and energy expenditures. besides, you are not completely removed from such a spiritual connection - meditation alone can bring about the same reception of wisdoms and enlightenments, and in a time measurable by months, you can revisit your natural, normal, and healthy desire to commune with psychedelic mushrooms again.

its probably most tactful to wait until youre finished breastfeeding. the Earth will still be there to provide her gifts well enough.

come on?!?

Seeing as weed is specifically stored in fat cells, I would think the cannabinoids would make it into the milk as well. Why not be sober until you are done breast feeding? Are you an addict?

seeing as cannabinoids are found in breast milk this is just stupid8(...and weed dose not have a addiction like most drugs. Prescription drugs are even worth than weed... as too the lady who posted this i would say after 3 days you should be fine.after the after affects go away COMPLEATLY i would say it should be fine

The answer is clear : don't use recreational drugs while breastfeeding.

I'll close this since it's old and OP got her answer.
