Opioids Breaking time release on tramadol.

Hmmm not sure about 150 mg tabs. Are they tablets & not capsules?

I once had a huge amount of 100mg slow release tramadol caspsules wth the little beads inside. I'd just chew them up. I dont see why that wouldnt work for the one you have.
 
It could be that your one of the people who have tramadol that doesn't get you very high or anything at all. Tramadol is a hit or miss drug for people. I used to be able to get a mild buzz from them but now I don't even notice. I have both the 50 mg IR pills and the 300 mg ER pills and dont get anything from them except pain relief which really isn't that bad considering my pain sucks. Good luck and be careful as tramadol in higher doses can cause serious problems like seizures and stuff.
 
i can understand wanting to break a time-release mechanism for OC or opana, but tramadol? come on man...
 
I don't think you should break the time-release. I think if you leave it as is, because of tramadols unique method of action it might actually be more recreational than instant release. From what I understand, the first dose of tramadol increases the bioavailbility of every dose following that. Because your body metabolizes tramadol into O-desmethyltramadol, a time-release mechanism could increase the eventual build up of the 'desired' O-desmethyl metabolite.

That's how I've managed to understand it, anyway. Maybe sekio can drop in and help me out here, haha.

I don't know about that...

There's less up and down with the ER formulation, but you get higher concentrations for about an hour or 2 with the IR formulation.
 
True, the levels do go higher for about an hour with instant release.

The problem is, the 'spiking' is not desirable with M1, steady is better.

I take Tramadol 50mg IR along with my hydrocodone, awesome mix imo..............Tramadol by itself is too speedy for me, I dont like the speedy feeling & hydrocodone balances it out & it helps with my back pain..............one of the reasons I dont like oxycodone is because of the speedy feeling..............
 
Pretty sure you still won't feel that much from trammys regardless and i didnt think there was a time release "coating" you can crush the entire pill if you want and short it for a quicker onset aka rush.Idk what your opiate tolerance is like tho ..just be careful at higher doses seizures can happen.
 
The ER ones that I had (and they were Ultram Brand) had a plastic-like coating around them...Like it seemed impossible for those fuckers to break lmfao...perhaps these are what the OPs are like, but ya...plastic-y coating...

Some people get more out of tramadol than others. I for one find them extremely pleasant. It has to do with how well your liver converts tramadol to M1. "poor" metabolizers get less efficacy out of the drug than "good" metabolizers.

The time-release effect is desirable as well. The slowed release cuts down on a lot of the unpleasant higher-dose side effects that come with instant release high-dosage tramadol. With instant release I prefer to "ramp" my dosage up. (e.g. taking 1-2 pills every 30mins or so until I reach the desired dosage) because it cuts so much of the side effects out.

Not to mention as I pointed out previously, the recreational value goes up for some with time-release tramadol because of the build up and steady levels of M1 in the blood are preferable to the "spikes" that instant release can yield. These spikes are also what increase the unpleasant side effects of the "unmetabolized" tramadol itself.

As mentioned, dosages over the 400mg mark increase the risk for seizures. Don't take that lightly, trust me.
 
Even with a BIG opiate tolerance I still LOVE tramadol. I am not sure why, my friends and husband don't believe me. It just works perfect for me. I am very careful to stay under the max dose, I don't need my kids seeing me seize. Even at 150-200mg, gets me very happy and not even worried about "regular opiates"
