Heyo, I got the Vivitrol shot at less than the full strength so it was 320mgs released over a 28 day period of time. Doing the math, that's 11.5mgs of naltrexone per day. I'm guessing the strength of that 11.5 mgs is going to vary depending on what time of day the naltrexone is released into my system.

my question is: can you break through naltrexone if there's only 11.5 (or slightly less) in your system? I know not to go crazy and risk an OD but I can't stop wondering. I figured I'd throw it up here before going out and wasting cash on an experiment.

so whaddya think, can you actually break through naltrexone?

(this would be heroin we're talking about, like 2 superfat bags)

I know this is the most mundane answer ever but you got the vivotrol shot as an aid to staying clean. Why not just stay clean or at the very least wait till the 28 days are done?

Honestly I get that question a lot, I'm only on my 2nd shot but Vivitrol has transformed my life. It makes it impossible to go back to the old behaviors, but just like anyone in early recovery, I still have cravings. This isn't suboxone where I'm getting a nice little opiate buzz, it's stone-cold sobriety post-detox. So I see what you're saying, but the addict part of me would say, if my life is heading in the right direction and I can't possibly get addicted, what's the harm in getting high once a month? Don't we all wish we could do that on our own?

dude your not going to be able to get high...that's the whole point of the vivtrol. Just stay clean and avoid these addict behaviors. You will thank yourself in the end. I've heard of people taking obscene amounts of strong opiates to breakthrough the naltrexone and they OD'd and died bc of it. don't fuck with it man

not trying to shift topics, but im curious... what happens if you're given the Vivitrol shot and end up getting into a hideous car wreck (god forbid)?

how would they treat pain that would normally be treated with opioid medicines?

I would guess fentanyl and ketamine combination. Or a potent benzo like versed. But it would be a nasty situation to say the least.

Op its gonna be tough to break through that eith heroin. You need a drug that will outcompete the naltrexone for space in your receptors. As far as i know fentanyl is the only normaly available drug that does this. Your playing with fire if you try it.

yeah i think ativan and versed is all they could give you. if the pain was bad enough they would put you under and intubate you. and hmm

this question is probably answered somewhere else, but how strong is fentanyl relative to heroin? or rather what's considered a "normal" dose when IVing fentanyl?

Theres no nice little opiate buzz with suboxone for most people.

Wouldnt this thread be considered anti-HR?
