What North Hollywood shootout? The one that inspired the one in Heat?


ABQ is quite a distance form North Hollywood, unless you're just saying their names are the only coincidence

I read an short interview in Rolling Stone lately where they interviewed Vince and touched on that scene. I found it funny that neither he nor any of the other writers have a clue at the moment as to why Walt has a machine gun. Well, they have several different ideas floating around but don't really know which avenue to pursue. However, when asked Bryan Cranston did say Walt's character was back to ABQ to 'protect someone'.

North Hollyood shootout did not inspired Heat, Heat inspired the North Hollyood shootout.
I'm just saying their names are the only coincidence. And also a high-powered weapon in the trunk of a car just like the North Hollywood robbers had.

edit: I just watched the beginning of S05E01 again and I realized that Walter in the bathroom takes a pill coming from a bottle similar to phenobarbital bottles. The shooters from North Hollywood took phenobarbital to stay calm.

You're right, but I was really more asking if that's the shootout you were referring to. Not everyone has heard about it and it seems akin to talking about the shooting at the bottle distribution center, you probably didn't hear of it if you didn't live near it.

Yeah I stopped watching breaking bad after the 4th season since it was getting silly to me, and I find the show predictable at times.

heat also inspired an armored car robbery like in the flick somewhere in central or south america

Is the Aztek really that ugly?

A chemistry teacher I know drives a Honda Element. That is a truly ugly car:

At least the Aztek isn't effete.
 
I always found the cars chosen in Breaking Bad to fit the characters so well. When I first saw the Aztek I sorta laughed becuase it made so much sense for a neutered, suburban high school teacher. Fring's Volvo, classy yet not flashy. Skyler's old woody Jeep; perfect for the soccer mom. My favorites though are Mike's old 80's boats. Those cars are like couches on wheels.

But yeah, the Aztek is such a sad piece of automotive history. It totally decimated one of my favorite American makes. RIP Pontiac.
 
I don't think it's the worst car by a long shot but after reading their reasoning I can kinda understand why it's #1.

I think the ugliest car is the Honda Element. I don't care how it drives that design is awful.
