Television Breaking Bad

I am really looking forward to Walt replacing gus....I mean, production MUST continue. Somewhere somebody is going to get wise and realize that business must continue, and Walt will figure out a way....he is as smart as Gus if not smarter. He called Guses move on giving the order....proving he understood his game of chess, though I would have used a different tactic if I wanted to stay alive.

Looks like Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul both received richly deserved Emmy's this time round.

Gus is a pragmatist, and I wouldn't be surprised if they continued their operation as he has called Walter "an artist" iirc, and clearly understands the value of superior product. If that does happen it will be interesting to see how Walter protects himself, as Gus can't let the manipulation stand. I did feel sorry for Gail getting caught in the middle, he was clearly upset over the prospect of Walter being killed for their first cook after gus met with him.

I don't think Walter would want to take over Gus's position, he appreciates the safety and convenience of the previously existing business deal; besides Gus has an incredibly strong infrastructure that Walter couldn't just appropriate.

To me, it seemed like the finale set Gus up as the antagonist for season 4. Also, the guys who had taken over the chemical supply place Mike cleaned up were with a cartel (I remember Mike saying something along the lines of, "Looks like cartel work."). Is this the same cartel featured throughout the series? (I believe that one may have been Juarez) Or is it some other cartel stepping up because of Gus's major blow against Juarez?

So if there is a new cartel that's competing against Gus, and if Walt continues to defy Gus in order to save Jesse, do you think Walt could seek cartel alignment? I know that Walt is opposed to the type of violence the cartels use, but by this point he's realized that Gus is almost on the same level as them(I honestly believe Gus ordered the hit on that kid).

Obviously Walt will continue to work for Gus seeing as there's no replacement in sight(Walt is the fucking master chemist). However, Walt will do anything to protect Jesse so it seems to me that he would look past the obvious differences him and his cartel affiliates have in order to take Gus out. Once Gus is taken out, maybe Walt will be in control of his former slice of the pie.

Oh and wouldn't it be cool to see Walt use his master chemist skills to synth something besides meth? I mean, what if he decided to expand into the MDMA business? I'm sure Walt could easily obtain a connect on some safrole. I realize that this scenario isn't likely, but wouldn't it be neat?

I thought that Mike cleared up the cartel in the supply place around the same time the DEA came knocking at the leader's place. My understanding was that the increased DEA focus on the Mexican cartel due to Hank's attack meant that they couldn't bring product over the border, allowing Gus (with his secure, private supply) to monopolise the NM area's supply.
I was left with the assumption that Gus was now the only major supplier in the area after squaring the DEA and cartel against each other.
Walter wouldn't be able to make any kind of deal with the cartel, he is blamed for Tuco's death.

It seemed to me that the people in the supply place were basically being held captive in there. Also, Mike stated that it was cartel work after he cleaned it out meaning he probably didn't know what he was dealing with until he got there.

Like I said before, it's probably a different cartel (there's more than one ya know) that's moving up because the other got shut down. For all we know they could be glad that Walter is responsible for Tuco's death.

Just watched the first season of this after a suggestion from a friend and I'm hooked! Really enjoying it thus far, and I usually hate tv haha

Finished... why can't I have discovered this a year from now :( This 10 month wait is going to suck haha

the best show EVER. its really going to be hard to top. seriously can anyone think of a better show?

yea its a loooong wait huh. i wish i would have know about Vuze's capability to stream videos and music on to ur TV through ur xbox. I watched every episode on a laptop. i also skipped episode 8 of the 1st season because it wasnt downloading. then i forgot to go back and watched it. that was a big mistake. i was like wtf who is this sal goodman? wait what happened to badger? man that sucked

look at you guys trying to guess whats gonna happen next. you know damn well that near every guess you've made before was shut out by some huge turn of event!! like in season two before every episode they showed random clips of later episodes. you think it you know whats going to happen but nope. this shows to raw for that haha. anyone else have that happen? shit would piss me off until i figured out none of my guesses where ever right. same with the tv commercials. they showed wault buring the money on the grill and i was sure that he was done.

How many people had hoped and dreamed a show like this would come on television before it existed? Before Breaking Bad, I had always wondered when they would make a show about a drug chemist. I was ready to send the damn screenplay in myself.

is300ss: I know what is going to happen down the road with the Hank/Walt/Heisenberg plot, I am almost 100% certain of it.

breaking bad

a great show about a very relevant topic. anyone else a fan?

and also, do you think it portrays the drug aspect in a positive or negative manner, and has it had any effects/consequences?

There is already a thread on this, so your topic will likely be merged.

But it is my favorite show of all time.

As far as its portrayal of drug use, I would consider it fairly neutral. They don't go all Requiem For a Dream worst case scenario with drug addiction on you. Jesse's life pretty much parallels my own in a lot of tragic ways, with the exception of being a meth cook and killing people and all of that.

Anyways, best show ever.

I'm 6 episodes in, think it's pretty good, though the dialogue can be annoyingly slow-paced and I'd appreciate a more visceral depiction of the whole tweaker lifestyle. Jesse's hilarious and I love how DEA agents are always portrayed as assholes haha.

it definitely gets edgier as the series goes on, and a lot of the tweaker lifestyle will be portrayed, along with some unexpected twists. keep watching!
