Brazillian waxing

i do think brazilians are a bit overboard.

i think most women are convinced that dark/hairy is not as attractive as light and smooth.

i was considering getting a wax (you know...just to see if they really live up to the hype), until i read this thread. it's crazy. way too much pain. god, and i thought having my blackheads extracted was painful. i just get a decent razor and a decent shaving gel or (ooh!) oil and a super hot shower! bam...takes less then 5 minutes and you don't even need an appointment.

a trip to the spa should be relaxing, imo.

^ Well I dont know about your hair but ill tell you about mine. I used to have thin soft pubic hair, but now I have coarse thicker hairs that annoy the hell out of me if i dont shave ALL the time. More than one beautician has told me that shaving can make the hair more coarse and harder to even get that perfectly smooth skin over years of shaving....is this true i dont know but i DO know that the waxing left me smoother for a hell of alot longer than shaving every day does even. Well worth it for me.

I don't think that most of the women here are trying to present ourselves "as an immature object(s) of desire". Most have been saying that if feels good (i.e.- smooth) and by the clean part...until you get a vagina, you won't know what it feels like for us! It's not that it's dirty, it's that some women have daily discharge or vaginal secretions (when you get wet) which are normal...anyways, if you don't like it, don't get a brazilian!;)

EXACTLY!

Oooh they even talk about snatch while they're doing it? That would definately keep my mind off the pain! I'm gonna have to get it done now :)

My person did...talked about hers at least and she was hot so i enjoyed it hah

that's the thing though, pain is really subjective and what is very painful to one person is only mildly painful for another. i would recommend giving it a try once so that you know whether you like it or not. take my advice and have a hot bath about 30 minutes prior along with 2 advils and it will be much easier. i put off waxing for YEARS because i was afraid of the pain and thought that was so silly after i got it done the first time.

^ i agree. I was terrified on getting waxed, but to be honest for a whole 10 mins of annoying pain it is so worth it. Im so glad I finally changed my mind and got the nerve to try it.

YES. YES YES YES.

It's the best method of removing hair for many, many women. It really isn't that painful... over time I've grown to enjoy the pain. :o

I like cleanliness in general; why should my most intimate areas be any different? Many women agree. Shaving really sucks.

If you don't like waxing, don't do it.

i hate shaving! that being said... i'm a little scared of waxing... firstly the pain, and secondly, being embarassed about spreading myself out for someone other than my doctor or my partner! I'm sure they're very proffessional and all, but the idea still irks me.

Do they do everything? i mean, if you have hair around your anus do that take that off too? is it normal practice i mean... i don't know if all women have that.

and what about having very elastic labia? would that make it more difficult??

<--- has never waxed that area before.... i only reall wax my wee treasure trail...

I'd recommend trying it twice, to be honest your first one IS probably going to hurt a fair bit, but once you get to the second and there's less hair and it's shorter, it's a much better indication of the real pain.

Also I can't remember if anyone's mentioned it but give your hair a bit of a trim before you go, it hurts more and takes more time the longer the hair is.

It doesn't really make any difference to me but most places will have a disposable g-string you can wear which they pull aside, so you're not fully exposed.

They'll do whatever you want them to... if you're not into having hair around your anus done, you can just tell them not to (personally I kinda like it, I find it kinda tickles rather than hurts like the rest)

my boyfriend will be thrilled to know that my waxing experience was not normal. i am thinking about trying another salon. and definitly taking some advil or something before hand.

to whom ever asked what the waxer was using, she was using strip wax for the bikini area and then hot wax for the naughty bits. it was the hot wax that apparently kept getting stuck. at one point, you could have carved a statue out of the mound of wax she had on me 8(

My girlfriend recently suprised me with a new improved smooth look.

Can't say I'm complaining =D

I have been committed to Brazilians for the past 12+ months.

I was shy about it. I thought a hairless pussy looked so juvenile. Pedophilic? I got over that. It doesn't look that way to me nor my fiance. He could care less whether I trim or wax. My choice.

I also thought that a wax strip could accidentally haul on my labia upon removal and well OUCH! Not so. That has never and will not happen.

I discussed my concerns with my esthetician prior to having my first Brazilian. I had been going to her day spa every month for the past 3 years. She would rather a client remove their thong when doing a regular wax. I never did. I felt awkward.

I am willing to endure the discomfort and frankly embarrassing positions (2 Live Crew LOL!) for the look and the feel.

For most of that time, I had waxing done the week before my period. It just worked out that way. I knew it was not recommended for a comfort level. I would like to go every 3 weeks if I could afford it. Going 5 weeks would be unacceptable for me.

I screwed up my BCP and now my pill cycle allows me to have waxing done the week following my period. Ladies, it DOES make a difference. If your pain threshold is low to begin with then being waxed a week before your period will turn you off from going.

To find a good waxer, ask your female friends for a referral. That is how I found my lady.

I have a theory about the right side hurting more than the left side. When I waxed I am laying on he table and she is on my right side. When applying and removing wax from my left side, she is at an angle. Skin can be held taut in the correct direction easier by me. She can pull the strip off at an angle quickly and more efficiently.

She is still on my right side when waxing my right bikini area. The strips tend not to come off as well given her position. The force exerted is different.

I wonder if she went to my left side to do the right it would hurt less and remove hair better.

Sweating does not allow the wax to pull the hair as well. She does my left side first. By the time she gest to the right, it takes more wax. It takes more pulls. It hurts more.

beauty salons have it. ring around. usually they dont say it blatantly, thats why 'brazillian waxing' is used. 'bikini waxing' is used as well. when you go in just tell them to do the whole thing.

Brazilians take more time than bikini waxing. It is blantantly advertised. The terms are not completely interchangeable.

Brazilian is a style of bikini waxing. Different waxes can be used for different areas.

Your waxer might be irritated that you are booked for regular bikini and now she has got to do a Brazilian. She may not have the correct wax ready or she does not even do them. More money to be made yes but it will make her late for the next client. I don't like to be kept waiting.

Book exactly what you want beforehand as a matter of courtesy for all.

Those who get nervous about showing their crotch to their waxer: These people see crotches ALL THE TIME. All the live-long day. They see more crotches than the sluttiest man-ho ever did on his best day. Your crotch is just one amongst many, and they don't care about the particulars.

Unless your personal hygeine is nasty. They'll probably remember you then.

The girl I'm seeing says it takes 5 mins. I can't imagine why it would take any longer.

Another girl I was with just used hair removal cream with great results. I tried it once though and I was burning for hours.

I cant see how hair removal cream would produce the same results, as it just burns the hairs on the surface off and would grow back much sooner than waxing.

Its best to choose a beautitican that uses that new wax that doesn't require cloth strips to pull it off, they just palpate it for a few seconds then pull the actual wax off, it hurts much much less.

I had one done last night, strip wax for the first time ever after years of bead wax, and it was agony.

So so so so so fucking painful, for hours after, so bad I had to put an ice pack on (nice sight for my boyfriend) and it still aches a bit now, 20 hours later :(

The only good thing I'd say is strip wax is a lot quicker, but I'm perfectly happy to pay a little more and wait a little longer to do without that amount of pain.

this is excellent advice, and i'm now convinced it is the only way to go. do you really want to trust somebody random with such a delicate and intimate procedure? i made that mistake once - in fact, i probably lamented that experience in this very forum a couple years ago.

blindly choosing a salon out of the phone book landed me an esthetician who was inexperienced, and ultimately i found myself the not-so-proud owner of burnt skin and a very shoddy wax job. it scared me off from brazilians for quite a while even though i was aware that my experience was outside of the norm.

yesterday i went to a salon that was recommended by people very close to me, and it was the complete opposite of my experience from two years ago. even though i ended up in some fairly demeaning positions, i felt okay (mentally). physically, yeah it hurt but it was totally tolerable. the quality of the esthetician you go to really makes all the difference in the world, so ask around and listen to your friends!

i just heard this yesterday - maybe someone here can confirm - there are generally 3 hairs per follicle, so that's why it takes a few waxes to "condition" the hair to grow back differently. you have to sort of "kill" the follicle to better maintain the hairlessness. is this true?

by the way, if any of you are in the san francisco area and need a referral, send me a PM and i'll hook you up with the place i went to yesterday.

^^I should have read that advice before. I just went to whoever was cheapest. and $50 a pop wasn't exactly cheap IMO. I thought the girl (although she was very hot) did a VERY SHITTY SHITTY job! I was pissed when I left. I had to go home and pluck out 20-30 hairs that were still leftover! Give me a break!

I cant really afford $50/mo anyway although if I found a great place/girl to go to I might reconsider. All the girls I asked though were too scared to do it themselves, and after my story...forget it. Anyone know of a good place in WI or northern IL?? Let me know!
