Brazillian waxing

animal_cookie said:
i tried it out a few months back and i was there for 45 minutes. the woman i went to kept waxing the same area again and again. plus, there were several times she told me the wax was stuck and globbed on even more. i'm hoping this is not normal, because i really liked how it looked, just not the pain :(

That's terrible! And no its not normal. Im a beauty therapist in training, and ive nearly finished my waxing bit in the course, and from what we get taught about waxing xx and bikinis etc, like every1 has said, over time the hair *does* get thinner and sparser, and the pain hurts less and less every time you do it. What the waxer did ^^^ sounds like she put way too much wax on in the one spot (im presuming she used strip wax yes?) and wen u put too much wax on using a already used strip u dont rip the hair, u rip the wax which causes bruising in that area, this can also happen if she wasnt streaching the skin hard enough. For small areas, eg brazillians, underarms etc, waxers should be using hot wax... ( where u put it on, let set for a few seconds and then it becomes pliable... u pull up the edges and rip the wax off without using a strip, this works best as it grips well to the hair not the skin)

Just a heads up for ppl that go get a wax done, look for what ive said above... and question something if it doesnt look or feel right. Ive met ALOT of people who have had waxing (any) fucked up by stupid waxers. Dont feel bad if they've fucked it up and left hair, bruising or wax on you. Its not meant to happen.

I love getting brazilians. No animal_cookie, it should not have been like that. Like hayzzzz said, that's bad technique you experienced - find a new waxer. I've had great experiences at the salon I go to. Very quick and professional and little pain afterwards. I just had one done on friday. Soooo nice and clean! I love it! :)

I wax regularly at home. I have it done at the salon when I'm lazy, but prefer doing it myself because:

1. I get put off when the waxers talk about celebrities who get their wax there, and sometimes even describe the little kitties

2. I find that their skill varies significantly... some can do it with hardly any pain, some just have no clue how to, some put the wax too hot, etc.

I find it easy to do it myself. I have the hot wax you melt down in the microwave, not the strip kind... all you need to do is keep the skin taut. It doesn't really hurt much because I pull it away quite quickly.

It's not all because of guys that women do it though... I find it feels great. Probably how guys feel when they shave their heads.

Well I shave my head and most girls I've been with seem to shave....my verdict - the pussy feels better!

seriously, though, how do you find places that do it? i'm lost
beauty salons have it. ring around. usually they dont say it blatantly, thats why 'brazillian waxing' is used. 'bikini waxing' is used as well. when you go in just tell them to do the whole thing.

I can't afford to pay someone to do this on a regular basis, but I've honestly found that I can use nair without any problems whatsoever, if I'm just careful about where I put it. Same results as far as no ingrown hairs, cost = $3/bottle which can be used several times. I also don't have to wait as long as I get it done.

So, if you can get it done, fine, but if you can't that's always an option! :)

I swear by Brazilian waxing when I'm not so broke. :) If money permits I do it every month when my period is finished.

Not sure about the right side thing, but waxing does sting and the first few times I had it done, it REALLY hurt. A couple ibuprofen and a glass of room temperature water, plus wearing loose pants and no panties for the rest of the day, should make you feel better. It won't feel this badly tomorrow and if you choose to get it done again it will hurt a lot less next time.

Another help would be to apply witch hazel lightly with a cotton ball to the waxed area, and when it dries, apply baby powder.

Enjoy it, and if you decide to keep it up you'll never see another ingrown hair again. Take 200-400 mg ibuprofen with a cup of coffee or an espresso (caffeine helps, for some reason I don't know) next time.

my guess is because it constricts blood flow it decreases the blood flowing to that area where its all raw

i started getting brazillian waxes a few months ago and i'll never go back to shaving! it's so easy and low maintenance and i don't find the pain bad at all. i always take a hot bath about 20 minutes before i go and take 2 advils at around that time too. the bath seems to make the waxing easier and the advils definitely lessen the pain.

i love being smooth, i feel sexier, and the reaction from my boyfriend is always EXTREMELY positive :D

^In Australia you pay anywhere from AU$30-55

Agreed, my boyfriend always has a laugh the first few days after I've had mine done 'cause he'll find me sitting on the couch with my hand down my pants, nothing sexual, just feeling how nice and soft and smooth it is!
Oh and he loves watching me moisturise the area after showering ;)

I had an allergic reaction to that stuff a few yrs ago so i cant use it :(

God, I can't imagine my beautician talking about someone elses patch while she's doing my waxing ;) Good thing there aren't any celebrities hanging around my local salon.

Oooh they even talk about snatch while they're doing it? That would definately keep my mind off the pain! I'm gonna have to get it done now :)

Well I can quite honestly say I can not see what all the fuss is about a

woman having pubic hair. Why is everybody jumping on the band wagon

and shaving or having them ripped out by the roots, during the 70's all the

porn stars had the full beaver and there were no problems then, so whats

the big deal with hair now? Its only dirty if you dont keep it clean!

To have pubic hair as a mature man/woman is normal and therefore the desire

that it envokes is also normal, to present yourself as an immature object of

desire is not normal and slightly suspect to my mind.

On a lighter note, it gives you something to dry your face with on the way up.

I don't think that most of the women here are trying to present ourselves "as an immature object(s) of desire". Most have been saying that if feels good (i.e.- smooth) and by the clean part...until you get a vagina, you won't know what it feels like for us! It's not that it's dirty, it's that some women have daily discharge or vaginal secretions (when you get wet) which are normal...anyways, if you don't like it, don't get a brazilian!;)

It's a fashion just like any other- if you like the way it looks/feels, you do it. If not, you don't.

Sex is MUCH more enjoyable without hair. Many women seem to have trouble orgasming during sex, but for me it is so much easier if skin is touching skin. Why do you feel the need to view it in such a negative light? Why should I miss out on a pleasurable experience because someone tells me its not "normal"?

If someone chooses to view me "as an immature object of desire" due to this, they are the one with the problem, not me. And I would hope that anyone who had this view would not get the opportunity to see me at all ;)
