I did a search and I couldnt find what I was looking for, if it this has been talked about feel free to point it out to me :)

I got a Brazillian for the first time this afternoon. I have always shaved but I decided to finally take the pain and try the waxing. Well I love the way it looks BUT it stings and has a hot heat sensation. She said it will go away in a few hours and it was more painful than it would be if i got it done regularly just because since I shave the hair grows in more coarse whereas when regularly waxed it thins but not to worry and just ignore it till tonight.

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the immedate, I hate stinging pain..Id rather have shooting constant hard pain lol. Its driving me crazy!

Also, she said most women's right side hurts more than the left...anyone know why this is?

I swear by Brazilian waxing when I'm not so broke. :) If money permits I do it every month when my period is finished.

Not sure about the right side thing, but waxing does sting and the first few times I had it done, it REALLY hurt. A couple ibuprofen and a glass of room temperature water, plus wearing loose pants and no panties for the rest of the day, should make you feel better. It won't feel this badly tomorrow and if you choose to get it done again it will hurt a lot less next time.

Another help would be to apply witch hazel lightly with a cotton ball to the waxed area, and when it dries, apply baby powder.

Enjoy it, and if you decide to keep it up you'll never see another ingrown hair again. Take 200-400 mg ibuprofen with a cup of coffee or an espresso (caffeine helps, for some reason I don't know) next time.

omg ill make it feel better :(... This is why I find balance in life, women do such wonderful things for us. I just cant let differences get in the way of good communication and sex and everything. Its a love thing, more sex the better the world becomes lol...

Im sure i could make it feel better, im gentle. ;)

^ im sure my boyfriend will agree when he comes home from work ;)

Good call on taking an ibuprofen beforehand mariposa!

how long does the average brazillian wax last?

i tried it out a few months back and i was there for 45 minutes. the woman i went to kept waxing the same area again and again. plus, there were several times she told me the wax was stuck and globbed on even more. i'm hoping this is not normal, because i really liked how it looked, just not the pain :(

My waxer does the upper sides first, then the lips, then the 2 Live Crew video stuff. ;) In that order, and VERY quickly. It does hurt, a lot!

animal_cookie - I get it done right after my period is over. Some grows back, but it's not ridiculous and my partner does not mind. 3 weeks, ballpark.

I feel better when I'm waxed; I can't stand shaving, I'm not a hairy person but enough is enough :)

Anyone have experience with at-home waxing kits?

I have one but it didn't seem to work that well. Are there any good brands or do I really have to go out and get one done?

When i get mine done it takes around 15mins. My waxer is the best. She doesnt fuck around or leave any hairs!!!

+1 <3 brazilians :)

They make sex so good, basically because there's less friction!

mariposa is definately right on both the ibuprofen and having it done after your period.
I can't remember why it is but it's much less painful the week after than the week before. And the pain will definately lessen each time you have it done as there's less and less hair there.

animal_cookie it might have taken longer if it was your first time, (naturally the more hair there is the longer it takes) but I think 45 minutes is a bit much, I've never had it take more than 30 even after not waxing for months, usually it's about 20 min.
Where did you have it done? It doesn't sound like she did a very professional job.

I like to compare a Brazilian to childbirth, there's pain (very different amounts of course ;)) but it fades right after and the end result is so good you pretty much forget all about the pain until you do it again.

Oh and don't forget to exfoliate!! There's no point in having a hot hairless noonie if there's icky ingrown hairs everywhere 8o

My girl is a beauty therapist, and gets it done religiously, she's getting to the point now where the regrowth is just a really fine fluffy type of hair, but she recommends Nurofen before getting it done.

I have tried home waxing kits and they SUCK- its hard to make yourself pull the waxing strips off as you know its gonna hurt!

I have had a brazillian done once and once only- in the morning in the cubicle next to a poor girl getting a nice relaxing massage. The yelps coming from me wouldnt be too relaxing for her!

Argh- never again, unless there is a special occassion but the guy would have to be pretty damn special for me to ever consider doing that again! :p:p

It always used to take 45mins for me, these days it takes all of 15 or so... the hairs don't seem to be so stubborn any more. I reccomend not just ibuprofen, but codine as well.... get some neurofen plus, take it before hand, that way even if there is pain, you don't care about it so much.. ah, i love drugs.

As for the hair getting fluffier/less... i really think that is rubbish... if anything, my hair is LESS fluffy, and also STRAIGHT... so i can't grow it out now because it looks a bit ridiculous... but the hair comes out easier, as i said. But there's no less of it there then there always was...

My left side hurts more than my right, and once the chick showed me the difference between the bits of wax from each side, there was at least DOUBLE the hair on the left... no wonder it hurt so much more.

If it's a little bit red and hot now, first of all, you should get a new beauty therapist.... but maybe it's because it's your first time... They should put some aftercare solution on it... with aloe vera and lavender oil and those kinds of things. Try not to go home and have a shower straight away, give it a couple hours. When you DO have a shower, put some aloe vera gel on it (on the OUTSIDE).

Also, you must exfoliate, but don't do it for the first 2 days, let the skin heal before you scrub it. And get yourself some anti-ingrown-hair cream, something with tea-tree oil in it... your beautician should have some. It's expensive but it's well and truely worth it.

hope that was helpful... i love brazillian, i feel almost dirty when there's hair.... plus everything feels so much better when it's smooth and slippery hehe.

Yup, I've been doing my own waxing for a year and a half now. The difficult thing IMO is finding a wax which is gentle on the skin but at the same time gets the short hairs. Also I find that I get impatient letting my hair grow out, and tend not to be able to wait until all of it has more or less grown out again for a new wax, so as a result there's always some hair growing out just after a new wax session (tweezers are your friend).

As for waxes I've used, I've tried plenty... I like the Body Shop Sugaring Wax, although it doesn't get the shortest of shortest hairs. There are also waxes made specifically for brazilians, which are really good at gripping tiny hairs, but they tend to be rough on the skin so I only use them sometimes.

The first time I tried waxing myself it hurt like hell, but it gets better over time and although some areas will always hurt to wax, most of the time I can pull the strips off without even flinching. Definitely worth it I think, even though I've never had a salon wax so I can't compare.

one of my friends does her own brazilian waxing and i have to say that i am in awe of all girls that are able to do that to themselves as not only does it hurt a lot more down there than when you wax your legs, but it also requires a lot of tricky manoeuvring and skill which i obviously don't possess.

and yeah 45 minutes does seem like a rather lengthy time for a brazilian. mine usually only takes 15 minutes.

i'm all about the idea of it (i HATE shaving, but fuck hair), and i know i can tolerate the pain... what kind of places offer it? obviously salons and whatnot, but i'm not really a salon type of girl, so i have no idea where to look. :)

Ok well the pain and heat actually went away within the hour after i made this thread so yay!

BUT then i was VERY stupid...Im leaving for aruba in one month so i just started to to tan at the tanning salon 1-2x a week before leaving so i wont burn there, well I decided to start last night 8) 8( SO STUPID! So i assumed since i have been shaving for years now that when i tanned last year my skin had been tanned there before, well apparently not...i burned the heck outta my pussy! so now its pink and burned BLAH! I put aloe vera on so it isnt too bad but yea never go tanning after a waxing!

Frog e I love the women who did it, she is the owner of a small skin care. massasge salon and she is so good at what she does. She was done in 15 mins and did put stuff on afterwards. Ive gone to her for awhile with other things.

As far as doing it in variouis stages of your cycle I cant do that because I only get a period 3-4x a year soo theres no way of knowing when.

^As far as I know it's just best not to do right before your period because the high hormone levels make the area more sensitive. If it's something that will only affect you a few times a year then it's not that big a deal.

As for the hair getting fluffier/less... i really think that is rubbish... if anything, my hair is LESS fluffy, and also STRAIGHT... so i can't grow it out now because it looks a bit ridiculous...

Mine is thinner and less wiry/curly, which is what I think is meant by 'fluffy'. And I had a financially imposed break of about five months just recently and it does grow back to icky curly yukky pubes again after a while.
