Has anyone experienced an inability to speak?

I was on an important phone call, and couldn't get words to come out of my mouth. I had trouble saying the words I wanted to say and speak fluently. What on earth could cause this? I never had a problem like this before. Anxiety?

This happens to everyone on some days, it's normal. What isn't normal is if you are unable to coherently speak for a long period of time.

It could be anxiety, sleep deprivation, any number of causes.

if you think it was something important it could be as simple as anxiety to perform well (u know what i mean) on the phone. just be aware if its something that continues to happen and if so talk to your doctor.

No drugs actually.

I've just never had this problem before. It was almost like stuttering, but more blacking out words so I couldn't say anything at all. (I never had any speech problems like this before, and I'm in my late 20s).

I will try to get it checked out, I'm not sure if I can reproduce the problem on the spot.

Everyone's said it really. It is a fairly common thing to happen when you are stressed or anxious, and it sounds like you may have been if it was an important phone call. If it keeps happening, if it happens for an extended period or you are concerned in any way, you are best off seeing a doctor.

I'm going to close this as it isn't really the sort of topic we cover here, and it's only going to lead to a lot of speculation. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a pm :)
